GCA $259, DL Hotel $169, Paradise Pier $159, 8/24-12/18 2008

I was shocked to see those prices in my email this morning. I hope the rates don't sell out that fast, I don't get paid until the 25th. I assume with onsite hotels you must prepay, right?

It used to be no pre-paying, but recently they put in a deposit, perhaps the first night? But you don't pre-pay the whole thing for a room reservation.

I just read on another forum that the offer was only to SoCal residents (maybe that includes Phoenix?) Who knows. In away that is frustrating b/c what about the rest of us who pay to travel far distances to DLR? Shouldn't we get a break? Maybe they figure that those of us who are willing to travel wouldn't be as influenced by lower hotel rates - that we would go anyway.

Well, I AM from SoCal and I plunked down my hard earned cash for two trips last year to two of the Disney hotels, not to mention countless trips and stays in the past, so my name should be floating all over their mailing lists, but I have NOT gotten this great postcard with the discount rates!

(I'm totally kidding of course. ;) I wouldn't stay onsite even at those prices. We have two other hotels that we favor. Have fun all of you who got the deal and will be using it to book!!)

Have you ever stayed on site? Maybe that was the prerequisite? Just wondering why some and not others!;)

I got the postcard in today's mail (Northern California). I made reservations for November but I didn't want to pay for the 1st night because my husband is out of town until later tonight and I wanted to make sure the dates I picked were going to work w/his schedule. Anyway, I was able to get a 7 day hold on the reservation w/out paying anything. I asked and after being put on hold my request was granted :yay:

Another thing that I was told is that you have to present the postcard upon check-in in order to get the rates listed.

Eh, who knows. We're APers, Disney Visa card holders, stay on-site 3-5 times a year (over the last 5 years) and haven't received anything. Not sure I'm willing to pay the prices any more so I won't be upset if I don't receive the postcard/email.

I recieved an email with PIN code this afternoon. Not a snail mail postcard.
I
do not have an anual pass
have not been to DL in my adult life
am not a So Cal resident
yes am a Disney Visa holder
do hold an account on Disney Vacaion planning

OH, I just did a pop up online servey 2 nights ago about their website (I was researching DW though)

who knows.....luck of the draw??

Nope, so maybe that's it. But like I said, even if I had received the offer I still wouldn't use it.
Funny thing is I've gotten PIN code offers like that for rooms at WDW and I've only been there a total of 4 times in my whole life with the last time being in 2006. So go figure. :rotfl2:

I HAVE stayed on-site. Twice. Still nothing for me. So our mystery is still unsolved. Disney is random. . .

I wonder if it's at all related to the Disney Vacation Club. We've sat through the spiel...maybe that's the common denominator?

I've stayed onsite. I am an AP holder and DVC member. I have a Disney visa and I live in California (northern). Still no email or snail mail for me with pin :(

I'm still hoping to get something for a September trip down before my APs expire.

Anyone else feel like you didn't get invited to the cool kids' party? :sad2:

For anyone who's been able to check, were these weekday only or weekend too?

LOVE you avitar...Fear and Loathing is a hilarious movie - and doesn't hurt that it's Johnny Depp

Now as for the postcard...I've got everything Disney...AP, online accounts, Visa, stayed onsite, etc....I got nothing! However I went to my parents house today and what do I see sitting on their table??? The infamous postcard with the incredible rates. It was addressed to my dad. He has made 2 trips with me in the last 6 years. Never stayed onsite. Never been on the internet. Never purchased from Disneyland (all the credit cards are in my mom's name.) I have no idea how they found him.

By the way, we're in northern CA.

Apparently they are applying the same logic to the DL pin codes that they do to the WDW ones. Now if someone out there could explain that logic to me, I'd be forever in your debt. NO ONE has been able to figure it out.

That's what I was thinking....it's probably totally random.

Nope, we avoid contact with the DVC folks like the plague and we just got 2 postcards in the mail. One was the Disneyland offer and the other one was a WDW deal.

Of course even though I specifically said "don't throw these away until I have a chance to take a closer look" ...I was on my way out the door at the time, and now I can't find either one. My guess is that they both got tossed, and since today was trash day, they're long gone.
Grrr!

Hmm..nothing here. I sign up for everything, own DVC and just spent a fortune on site for 3 rooms for a family reunion trip. I am going in january, so this would still not help. However..I was just looking at my bill from May, and here is the Standard rate for then, using AAA.
Weekdays:Room charge, 324.00, tax, 48.60, resort fee (ugh) 11.50 = 384.10
Weekends: Room charge, 365.00, tax, 54.75, resort fee (again, ugh) 11.50 =431.25

No wonder DVC GC looks so appealing.

I've read on numerous posts that the pin code offers are linked to the name/address of the recipient and that if you call disney reservations and tell them you recieved it and lost it they should be able to see the deal attached to your name. Apparently the deal is linked to you and is there even if you lose the card or email... just ask and see!!!

Hello all--

Checking the mail yesterday and lo and behold, there is the postcard! In looking at it further, I realize it's in my mom's name, sent to my address. Went to DL last year with mom and she had a room in her name, but all the contact info was under my address.

Anyway, I called and gave the CM the PIN # and booked a reservation in my name. The fact that it was addressed to my mom never came up. Also, at the end of the call, she started to say bring the postcard, but then changed her mind and indicated that nothing was saying to bring the card for proof at arrival.

Go figure!:confused3

Anyone not using their pin want to share with me? We would love to stay at the DLH in the begining of Dec but the DLH rate we were given with the AP is $234 a night. Is it rude to ask???

I don't think it is rude. If someone is not using the darn thing, someone might as well use it - that is, IF Disney doesn't care whose name is on the card vs. on the reservation. I am alerting my friends to the fact that they may get a card or an email and to let me know if they do because I don't have one!
