Tried looking through some threads, but did not see anything recent. Anybody have groceries delivered to the Grand Californian recently? Who did you use? How did it go? Thanks in advance!

We used Von's/Pavilion a couple of weeks ago. Prior times, we had a Von's delivery person with a Von's van come into the lobby and wheel the groceries to our room. However this time, we had a door dash delivery person and he did not know how to deliver the groceries. Instead of coming into the lobby to meet me with the groceries, he called from the drop off area and proceeded to drop off 10 bags of groceries, right there in the driveway. Of course I had no way to get them to my room, the bell hops were all busy hauling luggage and it was a mess. Needless to say, there was no tip involved. I am not sure if Vons now uses door dash instead of their own drivers and perhaps it was just this one driver that was unaware or if that was a one and done.

I called Vons/Pavilion a couple weeks ago to ask if there was anything I could do to ensure our order arrived on the refrigerated truck. i.e. widen our delivery window, order on one site or the other, etc.

The reps answer was no. Because of the usual staffing issues, they are outsourcing as needed. I took that to mean they are outsourcing all of it right now. Who knows if those trucks will return (I hope so).

My tips for grocery delivery to friends now includes bringing your empty rolling luggage with you to meet the driver! Or the best solution is have it delivered before you arrive (do not include alcohol in the order if doing this). You can use Drizly app for alcohol after you arrive. Super easy and fast, so you are not wating Park time or "other" time. :thumbsup2

Sorry but I just pictured your family running after bags of groceries spread across entire valet area. 🤣 Good tip/warning about outsource delivery.
