Hi Everyone,

We stayed at Gaylord Palms for Father's Day weekend. We got a fantastic "Discover Florida" weekend rate so we had to give it a try. It is quite a beautiful resort and everyone working there was very friendly. (One of the valet guys was a little intense though!)

The location is very convenient to DW, especially for us, as we spend so much time at The Boardwalk area. The rooms were average size and very tastefully decorated. There was a shower but no tub. I thought that might be a problem for some people, especially for children who only take baths. Maybe some of the other rooms have tubs. Our room was in the main atrium part of the hotel. You could leave the balcony doors open because it was always 72 degrees out there! It was rather noisy at night. There is a dueling piano bar, which we could hear but never did see. One night, they were running big loud scrubbing machines, cleaning the cement walkways. That was after 11:00 at night. We were very tired and slept anyway but I think it would disturb some people.

We weren't thrilled that they didn't have any tvs in the bars. Hey, the US Open was on!

This hotel is very nice but we discovered that we are really only happy staying on Disney property. I'm sure we'll occasionally venture off-site in the future but it's just not the same for us.

Going to the Boardwalk for the 4th of July!
:)

Happy summer!

Hi Maryann, we stayed at Gaylord Palms for a convention in May. We had a great time. We were disapointed that we didn't get in the atrium, but after reading your post I'm glad we didn't. We were in the Everglades area. Our room was very quiet. It was also just a quick walk to the elevator to get to the "quiet" pool. Our room did have a tub & shower. The dualing pianos were great. We stayed for over 3 hours & didn't want to leave. We would love to go back just to hear them. The hotel was jam packed with people the three days we were there. We didn't even try to get near the pool with the slide. It was filled with kids. That being said, we had a relaxing 3 day stay & would love to go back again. Thanks for your post. It was great hearing a review of the atrium rooms.

I really did like the Gaylord Palms more than my previous post would make you think! It's a very beautiful resort with plenty to offer. If you can find a special deal, it is worth it to stay there at least once.

The deal we got was $249 for TWO nights, including buffet breakfast for 2, each morning. Plus a couple of other little extras thrown in. That was a great price for such a luxurious resort.

It is very close to DW, you may want to check it out sometime.
