Gaylord Palms info

Has anyone stayed at Gaylord Palms through the Mousesaver website. It looks nice on paper and the price is reasonable. Any reviews?

Gaylord Palms is expensive. It's a nice hotel with some excellent facilities. We have always rented a home but we have enjoyed eating at Gaylord and taking in the ambience.

We stayed there 2 years ago on a Priceline bid win. On the downside: I thought the main pool area was small for the size resort that it is. There is a resort fee and a parking fee. We were there at Easter and the pool area was so crowded you had to hover around and wait for someone to vacate a pool chair. They did have an adult only pool --that was crowded too. I thought the food was very expensive.

On the upside: Lovely resort rooms, comfortable beds, the atrium is gorgeous and very close proximity to Disney. We did have burgers at the pool bar--they were having a cookout type thing with a live DJ--that was fun!

BTW-LOVE that you are a Favre fan!!!!!!! Still love that guy--plays like a kid. Rather PLAYED like a kid---well.......we will see if he un-retires again!

We are in the minority of the few people who don't care for this resort. Look for hidden fees. Be certain you understand exactly what you will have to pay for. Do they charge for parking? Do they have a resort fee? If so, what does it cover? Is it mandatory. They have changed their fees (and the items they charge for) from time to time, so be certain they are upfront with you.

We didn't care for the food there. Perhaps we hit the restaurants on a "bad" day, or "bad week" but we were disappointed in the quality for the cost, and the service was somewhat sullen.

For the money that it can cost, I'd stay on Disney before staying here again.

Computer in the room with internet access is nice. The kid's pool area was decent, but not well heated. The atrium can get loud at night which we found a bit annoying.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay but I doubt that we would stay here again.

We love the Gaylord Palms. If you follow the link from the DIS to Dreams Unlimited you will get a free upgrade to an atrium view. I find the restaurants to be excellent, priced about the same as Disney's signature restaurants, but much better. They have real coffee, another plus. Depending on when you are going, I have seen rooms from DU for as low as $109. The rooms are quite a bit bigger than any on site room. The biggest downside I find is it is a very large convention resort and you will see a lot of business people. However, there are also lots of families and they have a great childrens pool area. There is also a parking fee and resort fee. We valet park and that is $20 and the resort fee is $15, so you need to add $30-$35 if you have a car. They do have transportation to the parks, not just Disney, but it is not as frequent as Disney transportation. Another thing to consider is if you have a car you will also need to pay parking at the parks unless you have an AP. The Gaylord also has AP rates, AAA, DIS and I think a couple of others. As the PP said, the atrium can get loud, but with the door shut we couldn't hear it.

We stayed there last October for a great rate of $99/night. I knew before we booked about the resort fee and parking fee. Frankly, you'll find those fees at most resort hotels. We had a beautiful atrium view. The rooms were large and the staff was phenomenol.

You could spend a couple of days just touring around the hotel and looking at all the wildlife, flora and theming at the hotel. The pool was nice. It has a small waterslide and also a little kids water play area with water shoots, fountains, etc.

The food in the most of the restaurants was a bit pricey, but no more than other resorts. My 2 year old ate free at the breakfast buffet, but I'm not sure at what age they start charging.

It is VERY convenient to WDW.

We stayed at GP for a convention this summer the kids and their uncle were able to take the buses conveniently to Disney, what I did not realize was how close the POP Century really is to the Gaylord Palms. The food in the restaurants was good, the rooms very large, beds comfy and we were on the Atrium, we closed the doors and never heard the noise outside. It was a wonderful experience we would stay there again.

I stayed at the Gaylord Palms in April 2008. The Gaylord was nice but very much a corporate hotel. My children were pretty much they only kids there. It is definitely convention orientated. Rooms and amenities were nice. Also charged a resort and parking fee as you know. The food was ok. My husband got sick after eating seafood at one of the restaurants.

I also stayed at the Hilton during my trip because the Gaylord could not extend our stay. Personally, I liked the Hilton better. I enjoyed the Hilton due to extra magic hours. We definitely used this bonus. I believe the Hilton is one of the few off property hotels to have magic hours. No cost parking and children eat free. They have a character breakfast which was nice. The rooms at the Hilton was ok. I had a junior suite and but was not really impressed.
