Gay marriage; for or against?

If YOU have a problem with this topic, why the heck did you read this thread in the first place?! :furious:

Maybe because the title of the thread is Gay marriage; for or against

Okay so half of you complain and say how rude it is that people bash you for liking gay marriage, so how HYPOCRITICAL of you to go bashing somebody who expressed their opinion in an open opinion thread?! You think it's wrong that people think what you're doing is wrong, well I think its wrong you're all bashing one person in here who was brave enough to share their different opinion. They were probably brought up in an environment where people told them that it was wrong, and no offense, it's kind of hard to change that, especially when you're still a kid and not able to experience the world first hand. That's when you're opinions really start to matter, and you really know for sure your stance on a lot of things. Give it time, maybe they'll change their mind, maybe they won't. Want know what you can do about? Try to change the next generation’s opinion.

And for all of you that call the different opinion ignorance? How about your ignorance to learn to accept people don't always have the same view as you.

You know what, I'm for gay marriage, but I'm not for hating people that aren't, unlike 95% of you here!

XD im for it

gay guys are scarey gay girls are beotchy *at least here they are * but hey they have there rights. dont be gay around me and all is good.

i completely support it, and i didn't check on this thread in a while but i think that people should stop hating and keep their beliefs to themselves, simply a yes or a no should suffice and no one should question eachother, we're all different and so is what we're talking about, its a very difficult subject and what it all boils down to is love and hopefully we can all respect that. I'm sorry if people dont agree with me but this is what i think. I hate it when there are fights on the boards.:( :( :(

^^^wow, longest run on sentence of my life lol

Okay, sorry to bring this up again, but the 'If gays can marry, then I should be allowed to marry my cat' has finally shown up and that's a pet peeve of mine. (And yeah, it was a few pages ago. I'm late as usual, sorry, but still. And now there's... wall involved. That's actually a new one by me.) This always gets dredged up in these debates, the homosexuality = bestiality 'argument,' and it still makes no sense at all. Go look at your cat. Or your dog, or rabbit, or whatever pet you have; it doesn't matter. Try to engage them in a conversation. Tell them that you love them more than life itself, would do anything for them, and want to spend the rest of your life together. What would they say? Unless you have some pet the rest of us can only dream about, chances are they won't say anything. Or at least, anything meaningful.

The fact is that the majority of animals just aren't on the same level of comprehension as humans. Bar extreme genetic mutation, there will always be that huge level of disconnect between human and animal minds. And I'm not saying that animals are stupid or can't think or aren't deserving of rights themselves, but saying that being in love with a parrot is the same thing as being in love with an adult human is ridiculous. Parrots supposedly have intelligence comprable to the mind of a three-year-old, and parrots are on the high end of the intelligence spectrum when it comes to domestic animals. Would you say that a three-year-old child is capable of being in a real relationship with an adult? Not a parent-child relationship, but as equals in love? A child's mind isn't ready for that, and a parrot's mind can never be.

You may love your pet, deeply and truly, but you can never had a real, consensual romantic relationship. It's not possible. People may try to marry walls and cats and Barbie dolls, but it'll never be the same as a relationship between two adults. And it's the same with pedophile scum, before anyone brings them up. Children are mentally and physically incapable of the relationships adults have, what pedophiles desire be damned. SO. The moral of the story? Homosexuality =/= bestiality. They aren't comparable for debating purposes at all. [Rant: Off]

Oh, and, um, go California! Here's to fairness and love and everybody who still needs them. Cheers~ :D

How many times have we have this thread? I feel like I know everyone's opinion already hahaha.

I'm against gay marriage.

Actually first off, the original title was An 80 yr old couple. It got changed after the debate started.

Secondly i don't mind people having a different opinion. I just don't think it's either tactful or polite to tell someone that they need to be corrected.

Whaat?
Like every other human being gays have an individual personality. Not all gay guys are scary and not all gay girls are *****y. I certainly wouldn't have classed me as that (but i may be biased ;))
Being gay doesn't have an on/off switch. I really don't understand how someone can not be gay around you.

Thank you

Nobody really told me that it is wrong, I just believe it is. Another factor may be that gay people are in the minority in our little town, and most people make fun of you if you are gay.

Even without these people, I'd still support my side.

:furious: I never said that they needed to be corrected, for the 1,000,000th time!

Everyone is allowed an opinion, theres no right or wrong.

I am for gay marriage, or any kind of marriage really. But I am against those who do not believe in gay marriage pushing their views onto people. By pushing, I mean telling them that it is wrong, incorrect and immoral not like just saying they disagree.

Could you maybe explain why (in a decent way)?

I'm just curious :)

..What does that mean, In a decent way?

Anyway. Because of my religious beliefs I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. I don't have anything against gay relationships. I just don't think they should be allowed to marry since gay relationships are less common than straight relationships. If that makes sense.

there is nothing wrong with being gay or lesbien
personaly I am not
but everyone has a right to be themselfs

Just because they are less common than straight relationships? In the United States, blacks getting married are less common than whites getting married. Does that mean that they don't deserve the same rights too just because it's less common? That makes no sense.

You also can't be for gay relationships but against gay marriage. If you are for gay relationships, why wouldn't you be for marriage? You are acknowledging that gays have relationships yet you don't think they should be able to marry?

I think that everyone has their own opinion.

So what if you don't like that they don't think that same sex relationships are right?

Everybody has their own opinion, and is entitled to it.

very true.
but most take a lot of offense with this particular opinion, becuase its a lot similar to saying 'i don't think people with blue eyes are right' i can't help my eye color, just like i can't change my sexual orrientation, so why deny me certain rights because of either?

I'm for gay marrriage.

On the "married to a wall" story, yes I did mention that. She's now having an affair with a garden fence... i'm not lying.

You can. John Barrowman is against gay marriage, when he's gay himself. From Wikipedia:

'Despite this long-standing relationship, Barrowman told Scotland's The Herald newspaper that he had no plans to marry, saying, "Why would I want a 'marriage' from a belief system that hates me?" However, he and Gill became civil partners on December 27, 2006. As Barrowman explained when the couple were interviewed by Attitude magazine, the couple do not want to call this a marriage: "We're just going to sign the civil register. We're not going to have any ceremony because I'm not a supporter of the word marriage for a gay partnership."'

Religion. The Catholic religion is against marriage, but they are ok with relationships, even though they don't like it. "Marriage is a bonding between a MAN and a WOMAN"

I see nothing wrong in it at all. It's what you believe in, and nobody can change you. You are who you are.
