Gay Exorcism Video

Not a big fan of censorship here.....so I will leave the post.

But overlooking is good sometimes! :thumbsup2

Mike, I have total and complete respect for you as a person, and what you do here on these boards.

However, I do not believe that overlooking ignorance and stupidity thinly veiled in the dogma of fundamental religion is ever good.

I know that here on the DIS things need to be peaceful, and friendly. That is fine. It's the general "rule" for the site, so be it.

I will not condone ignorance and stupidity when it's directed from a point of view of hatred or intolerance. For anyone to defend exorcism in any form, but particularly when trying to force a change in a person's fundamental identity, is pure sin; true evil.

And I'm sorry, but I won't ignore it, overlook it, or let it go by without at least a simple comment of finding such things inappropriate.

Jaysus, didn't mean to write a treatise, but wanted to explain as thoroughly as I could why I will respond when someone is ignorant enough to come to this specific board an post any comment based on intolerance of being gay or lesbian, transgendered, or bi... or het!!! :)

I thank you for not censoring the post, by the way.

As a gay Christian, I can say that I'm revolted by the idea of "gay exorcism" and I haven't even looked at the video.

Is the God I believe in strong enough to change someone's orientation? Sure. Does He? I'm not going to sit here and say that it could never, ever happen or has never, ever happened-but not in my experience or the experience of anyone I know personally.

If I accept the scripture that says "before you were formed in the womb, I knew you", then God knew I was gay before I took my first breath of air and my being gay is part of His plan for me.

My pastor has said that he has no idea why the Christian community has landed on this particular issue, but that it does the cause of Christianity no favors.

i would love to meet a pastor with that much openess you are a lucky christian:littleangel:

There's also a podcast from a church in texas called Cathedral of Hope. If you can't find a welcoming church in your area, download the sermons and enjoy.

I've been very lucky and met clergy and Christians who do understand that the way gay people are demonized is NOT Christ-like behavior.
