Gay Days Changes??

Well, the new venues have been announced.

"Beach Ball" will be at the Buena Vista Palace? :confused3 Yeah, because another pool party is the same as a party at Typhoon Lagoon.

And the "One Might Party" will be a the Gaylord Palms? Not quite the same as being able to ride Tower of Terror and Rockin Rollercoaster.

If I'd shelled out the cash for parties at Typhoon Lagoon and Hollywood Studios, I'd be VERY upset that they'd been taken considerably "down market". How can they even think that those are suitable substitutions?

I agree. Glad I'm not really into participating in those events. But MK on that Saturday... I'll be there!!!

I cant help but wonder how much this guy had to pay Gaylord in advance to have the party there?

So, what cutesy, quippy, shocking, double-entendre expression will you be sporting on your red shirt this year?

Wally! :lmao::lmao:

I rather like the sounds of an S and G party! LOL! Could be some serious fun. ::yes:: Have to find new music though. Long bushy hair and caftans are SO yesterday. :upsidedow

I never really got the idea of what made Gay Day's so special, as a gay male myself, it always looked like any other pride event/parade Im sure the intent is good, but it's never had any appeal to me whatsoever, I just dont get what the big fuss is about, :confused3

For me, lately, its the joy of seeing all of the same sex families on Main Street on Saturday morning. It's a chance for kids being raised by same sex parents to see that they are not alone.....

There are both good and bad things about gay days, but this is one of the things that always brings a smile to my face! :thumbsup2

I definatley see your point, I just think it would make gays in general appear more "equal" if it were more evenly dispursed through the year, rather than one large bang once a year.

There's something amazingly life affirming about it for me. The first time I was just BLOWN AWAY by what a positive experience it is. Standing in the Magic Kingdom surrounded by gays and lesbians in red shirts along with our friends and families and just having fun. There aren't words to describe it.

Unlike a pride event, it's not designed to be political or activist, it's just a day to say "we have fun together, we're just like everyone else, we're not here to intimidate you, we're going to ride Spash Mountain". The sad truth is that ANY gathering of gays and lesbians is political in nature, and always will be until we've got equal protection under the law. But this event doesn't focus on that. It really is just about camaraderie and visibility. And FUN! It's about having a lot of fun.

Sure we go to the parks on other days of the year. We don't act any differently per se. Heck Scott and I have even worn red shirts to the parks on other days of the year. But on Gay Day the atmosphere is just different. It's something that you can't understand until you've experienced it.

At least that's what it is for me.

Never thought of this angle.
This does seem like a great reason. :cloud9:

changes have been announced:

http://onemightyweekend.com/

such a shame that this is my first gay days in orlando and it seems to be falling apart. No mannequins and a major change in venues.

Looks like HOB will be the only place I attend. After that it'll just be goin to the parks and pulse at night I guess

well look who popped on the LGBT board! It's great to see you here!

My current schedule is
Thursday - HOB
Friday - ADH since that's where everyone seems to be going
Saturday - Club Motion

as for what I'll be wearing, I bought a "dopey decision, reopen the clubs" tshirt in red. It looks like this http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_T8rYiDUA4Ec/SfRvnJd-WqI/AAAAAAAAAQU/SA4v_jaezMo/s1600/0409%2BPI%2B026.jpg

I'll be wearing my "Double Licks" shirt if I go. W/O PI it won't be the same (Thursday night at 8 traxx some of the funnest nights of my life during Gay Days). PI is so depressing when you walk through it now it makes me want to cry.

Just a reminder guys and gals....

Lets try to keep this on topic, Gay Days at the Theme Parks.

And lets leave that park near the Millenium Mall out of the discussion, it's just easier....

:thumbsup2
