Am struggling to choose which hotel to book at gatwick.

The sofitel is the most expensive but very lovely, the hilton is very nice also. However today I found a price for the Marriott courtyard and it's only £59 room only versus £120 Sofitel and £104 Hilton.

Anyone stayed at the courtyard?

Any recommendations?

Yes it is nice and was only built in 2009.

We have used this hotel and walked to the terminal as it is just slightly further than the Hilton. It is near to the long term parking in the south side.

Recommend:thumbsup2

We considered the Sofitel again (gorgeous hotel) but decided to save on the hotel (got it free actually with airmiles) and stay in a hotel near Gatwick instead of connected to it.

We'll be in Day's Hotel, they pick you up from Gatwick if you wish (which we'll probably do) on the day, then take you back to Gatwick the next morning :D Nothing special but it's only for one night and it flies.

not stayed at the Marriott as we really enjoy staying at the Gatwick Hilton. I suppose it depends on how you see the hotel ie just a place to stay before your holiday begins or like us, its the start of our holiday and we splash out and make the most of it by getting there really early. We normally go for a suite and have access to the hiltons executive lounge and breakfast etc.. I love the convenience of the Hilton being attached to the terminal and just walking across to departures and far prefer it to the sofitel where I find the rooms a little claustophobic. If you are in the 'its only a place to sleep' camp go for the Marriott it looks really nice. :)

I usually book the Hilton with Clubcard points :thumbsup2

we like the convenience of being attached to the terminal and as I get there with DD before DH means we can go and meet him from the train and have a wander round the airport.

I stayed there a couple of years ago, and it is possible to walk to the terminal but from memory it does involve crossing an airport road. Didn't fancy doing it with luggage and so we got the bus.

The hotel was perfectly adequate and I'd use it again for the price you are paying.

I think there is a charge if you use the on-site car park even for the night you are there.

Everyone says about being connected to the terminal but if everyone google mapped the courtyard hotel they would see it is not much further. We walk to the terminal every time we have stayed here. :thumbsup2

No fun in the rain or dark or with little children! But having said that, for that price it sounds good.:)

We are also looking at a place to stay the night before,Normally dh would be working till 4/5 and then we drive up so its just a place to stay BUT this time we can travel up on a sunday which means NO work for Dh so we decided that we wanted to have it as the start of our holiday and go up in the morning relax after twilight check in havve a nice dinner etc then be able to sleep in a little as the flights not till 1pm :)

We are looking at the Hilton as the boys dont know and wont know till we get there we thought it would be cool to just pull up to this hotel and see if the boys click that we are at the airport!!
we just have to figure out telling them where we are going......we figured that the surprise would work out best if the hotel was connected to the airport:thumbsup2

do you need parking for when your away?
ive seen the Hilton cheaper than that for when ive been looking to book in October :)

what and where did you see the Hilton for? Im looking to book for October the 7th I think we will park the car with purple parking as I think that would be cheaper then booking a room with parking :confused3 we have 2 cars to pay for so looking for the best way around it,
To be honest our flight is not till 1 so we wouldnt even have to be to the airport till around 10 it was only because i like tp be their the night before and do Twilight check-in wondering if its worth it as we could check in on-line! If the price is right though id prefer night before:thumbsup2

I just checked again for my jan dates and lastminutedotcom have the hilton for £78 inc tax, so I am leaning towards that now....

check out travelsupermarket.com before you book. I just priced up a family room at the Hilton for our night before flight and lastminute.com was £136 and travelsupermarket.com was £111 for the same room :thumbsup2

ive signed up to get emails from holiday extras, and they sent me a 10% off email. I got the parking for 15 nights and the hilton for £160 or the Sofitel for £170 but the hilton for 1 night without parking was £70.

are you flying with Virgin? we fly on Oct 8th with Virgin, :woohoo:

Yes we are flying with Virgin :cool1: not sure how many flights a day they do but we are on the 1.15 flight! Are you onn the same one?? if so that would be so neat.

Its actually our oldest sons 10th Birthday on the 8th so its pretty cool that they dont know about the trip! we decided on the Marriot courtyard purely because the room is purple :lmao: and it had great reviews for the rooms just not the check-in service we are just deciding on where to eat now the night before,
we are doing parking through purple parking we got the 24 nights for £115 meet and great which i thought was fab because it was pretty expensive to add nights to the Hilton parking after the 15th night plus i was worried we would be put in the old wing of the hilton and i read awful reviews!

Hi when we booked we didnt even get offered the time of 11.15 :confused3 I didnt even realise there was an earlier flight with Virgin till i came on and read this :rotfl:
it was a bot late for our liking as we normally fly around 10/11 but on the plus side Im not a morning person :lmao: so at least we can sleep in till around 10!!
Where are you staying at Disney?

Im one of these people who investigates everything & i over think and over analyse ... which isnt always a good thing, but I spent a lot of time dabbling in travel agent work for a few years after college, so i dont mind being cheeky as i put up with it for years :rotfl: I made sure i knew every flight out of London going to Orlando for the month of October :headache:

I think we're gonna book the Sofitel even though its at the North Terminal, Theres a monorail that runs to the south.. and i got a decent price so i might as well give it a shot :confused3

The last 3/4 years we've stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton at Sea World. But i just couldnt get a room for the dates we had to go. so we're staying in the Fairfield Inn & Suites at Seaworld instead, its got great reviews on Trip Advisor, Theres only the 2 of us, so i wouldnt stay at a value resort, and i cant justify the mod/deluxe prices as we're in the middle of renovating our house.
I prefer to pay the extra on the flight and go PE so the Mr has more leg room, and whinges less.
