Has anyone stayed at the Gatwick Hilton lately, if so what did you think? Has it recently been refurbished? Thanks :teeth:

My parents stayed at the Gatwick Hilton on the 25th June this year and stayed in an exec room. They loved the convenience and could not fault the hotel in the slightest. We have stayed at the Le Meridian (now Sofitel) but my parents preferred the Hilton. They got a extremly good deal via holiday extras which included parking and an evening meal. Hope this helps. :)

We stayed there last September and thought it badly in need of refurbishment. The room was scruffy, with mould growing in the bathroom, the whiole place had an uncared for appearance but the restaurent was good.

I wouldn't stay there again unless desperate. We much prefer the Sofitel(Le Meridian)

I stayed there in April in a refurbished room - it was fine, the restaurant was good but I didn't think the size of the rooms were as generous as some of the off airport hotels, but I guess you pay for the convenience - its so nice to just walk downstairs rather than bother with shuttle busses etc

Oh how horrible!! Have stayed in Le Meridien too and it was great! Thought the Hilton would be handy as it's in the south terminal! I had heard it has been recently refurbished.

I definitely wouldn't stay off site, but the Sofitel only involves a 2 minute train journey, so takes about 2 minutes longer than the Hilton.

Jill, I have a family room booked at the Hilton for 12th August - I'm happy to let you know how it is when I get back if that isn't too late for you??

That would be great! I have held a room at the Hilton and one at the Sofitel so have plenty of time to decide! :thumbsup2

It is all about convenience - especially as we will be travelling with DS who will be 14 months! I know the Sofitel is only 2 mins away but the Hilton is just so handy! :teeth:

We are staying at the Sofitel, although we are flying BA (from the North terminal) and not VS (from the South terminal). BUT when we have flown VS, we still stayed at the the Sofitel (well, Le Meridien as it was then...): the monorail connection between terminals is a breeze and actually quite fun!

I am Hilton Gold, so would most likely get upgraded to an Executive Room and would get lounge access if we stayed at the Hilton. BUT it is about £30 more expensive than the Sofitel (£99 room only through holidayextras.co.uk) AND the reviews of the Sofitel have been quite a bit better than the Hilton recently AND since we are flying from the North terminal anyway...

We stayed there last May, we were reasonably impressed. We got 2 adjoining executive rooms instead of the family room we had booked. My two boys thought it was great to have their own TV! Nice and quiet, everywhere was spotless, comfy beds. Food was quite expensive, but I think they have changed the restaurants a bit since then, and of course you don't have to eat there as you can walk to the terminal. So a thumb's up from me! :thumbsup2

I am trying to get a good deal for our trip next Feb., but many places don't seem to be offering it this far out!

We have stayed there 5 times (6th time will be in September), and we really like it. The best thing about the hotel is the walkway to the terminal. It is sssssooooooo handy, we always walk down to the terminal the evening before to check in (using VA twilight checkin), look around the airport, shop and get something to eat. Then in the morning it so easy and exciting to walk (well more like skip/run with excitement) to the terminal and saves us a lot of time.

We like the Hilton at London Gatwick. We have always had very clean and spacious family rooms and you simply cannot beat the convenience. Also, you are correct that it has been recently refurbished. It's a shame that they no longer have the swimming pool, but they do have a hair salon if you don't get time before you leave!

i second all that is said . its all about convenience your only there for 1 night. so if you can get a cheap family room its a great place to stay. and i think im right in saying that if you book directly through gatwick hilton, you get valet parking.

We have stayed in family rooms at the Gatwick Hilton for the past three trips. The rooms have aways been very nice - although I must admit the bathrooms could do with a make-over.

The best thing about the Hilton is it's proximty to the South Terminal - just a short walk away.

I stayed at Easter and the room was great. Very clean and a fair size. Beds very comfy and large. There were three of us. Very handy for South Terminal. Got a good deal with Holiday Extras to include parking for 3 weeks. We didn't eat in the restaurant there so can't comment on that.
