I wouldn't stay there again unless desperate. We much prefer the Sofitel(Le Meridian)
I definitely wouldn't stay off site, but the Sofitel only involves a 2 minute train journey, so takes about 2 minutes longer than the Hilton.carolfoy said:I stayed there in April in a refurbished room - it was fine, the restaurant was good but I didn't think the size of the rooms were as generous as some of the off airport hotels, but I guess you pay for the convenience - its so nice to just walk downstairs rather than bother with shuttle busses etc

It is sssssooooooo handy, we always walk down to the terminal the evening before to check in (using VA twilight checkin), look around the airport, shop and get something to eat. Then in the morning it so easy and exciting to walk (well more like skip/run with excitement) to the terminal and saves us a lot of time.
