Gatwick Hilton- booking with kids

Hi! We are off to the land of the mouse at the start of May with my parents, our 3 year old DD and baby DS. I have been trying to book rooms at the Gatwick Hilton for the night before our flight plus parking.

I have been trying to use Holiday Extras but cannot figure out which type of room I need. It shows that none of the family rooms can take a cot. What? How silly is that? You can have 3 beds or a double with bunk beds but it specifically says no cots can be added to these rooms. I cannot get anything on the website about if a cot can go in a double room, as I thought we could get a double with baby, then my parents could share a triple with DD 3.

I phoned the hotel direct but they just put me on to central reservations. They said only certain doubles can have a cot. We have always had a cot in a double there before when we had just DD.

So now I am so confused! Hilton quote £265 for a room with a double bed, 2 singles and a cot (including 15 nights parking) and £215 for a double room with parking. Holiday extras charge £189 for the double so it is the better option but the website says I cannot have a cot in the family room.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

I am totally confused. Anyone know if I can phone Holiday Extras about this? Anyone asked for a cot in a double? I cannot help thinking the staff there just wont care and will let you but dont want to risk it.

Any advice? If we weren't flying on a Friday i would say just drive on the morning but M25 on a Friday morning could be risky..........

Not sure about the cot issue but would say have done the holiday extra deal with parking loads of times with friends who have two children and just book for one and the kids can share for one night and so much cheaper including parking. We only have one so not an issue for us. Good luck

Try the Sofitel (ex Le meridian) its only a shuttle train ride from Gatwick South terminal.

Hi there,

I actually booked the Hilton family room a couple of years ago when my 2 were 1 & 2 1/2 & had to cancel as they told me the same thing - couldn't get a cot in for H & S reasons. Not sure about the doubles as they wouldn't have suited us.

We used the Copthorne in the end that could put a cot in the family room. We're staying at the Hilton on the 7th May as now they're 3 & 4 1/2 we can all fit!

Ok got this sorted now.

I called FHR this morning and the lady there was great. She called the hotel and arranged a triple room (my parents and DD) plus a double with cot for us and baby. It was £170 per room with 15 nights parking! Used my Frequent Virgin membership to get 10 % per cent off. Really pleased with this price and that DD 3 will be sleeping with Nanny and Grandad! LOL

I thought the hotel would be ok about the double with cot but you cannot always tell when booking online.

Thanks for your replies. We were going to consider a different hotel if this couldn't be resolved. FHR were really helpful.
