We fly out from Gatwick on Wednesday and will be using Virgin Twilight Check In. Are the restaurants at Gatwick such as Frankie & Benny's, Wetherspoons etc all open as normal?

Thanks

Phil :)

Not at the moment - they are refurbishing the whole of the upstairs area. Giraffe has opened recently though.

I have just received and email from Gatwick Airport saying that Giraffe and Apostrophe Cafe are now open before security

Last time we flew from Gatwick (November last year) there was nothing at all open and we had to head over to the North Terminal

There is a branch of Giraffe close to where I work and it's actually very good. Apostrophe is really just sandwiches and salads etc

They seem to be taking a very long time to complete the area :confused3

Due to Gatwick Airports website the new ' Village ' area before security will be fully open for Summer 2011. So still a while before its finished.

I emailed the airport last week and the reply I got stated that Giraffe and Apostrophe Cafe are open but there will no longer be any shops or restaurants before security apart from the two mentioned as they need the area for new security checks that are coming in.

Thers discount vouchers for giraffe online for garwich 20 % we plan on eating there tues eve as we also fly wednesday x

Frankie and bennys airside is open still.

Sorry to jump on, but thought I may as well ask my question here rather than making a new thread :goodvibes

So for those of you who travel to Gatwick the night before you depart, where do you go for food?

I'll be doing this in June and am wondering what we can do the evening before the flight...

TIA :thumbsup2

We always used to head over to Frankie and Benny's but will have to start with something new. It is likely to be Giraffe now, have used the one after security most times in Heathrow now which I like. It has a good kids menu and variety so will give it a go.

I haven't ever tried the hotels restaurant, with F&B there in the past we always know they will eat up with the excitement and all.

I was planning on eating at 'Frankie and Benny's the night before my flight in September. Don't fancy the limited Giraffe menu so will probably end up eating in the Hilton.

Wasn't impressed with the Hilton last November so not sure what we will do - might end up at the McDonalds near the exit!

Did you go for the buffet or the international a la carte menu in the Garden Restaurant?

We ate the buffed in the garden restaurant and DD ordered off the menu.

TBH we just thought it was very over priced.

I can confirm Frankie & Benny's will not :sad2: be re-opening land side as I emailed them to ask.

We are considering driving to the one in Crawley which is close by.

We stayed at Auora Gatwick last November when we went to Jamaica, we went to Ask in the High Street and had a fabulous meal.

Does anybody know how easy it is to get from Gatwick airport to any surrounding restaurants (non airport/hotel)?

Public buses?
