Gatlinburg Suggestions

My wife and I are looking to book a DVC tradeout to Gatlinburg next October? Does anyone have any suggestions of the resorts offered? What were your experiences? Cabins? Hotel?

October is a great time to be in Gatlinburg- the weather is nice and the leaves are turning.

We own a week at Tree Tops and are familiar with all of the other DVC options there. IMO, none are up to DVC standards and the area has many options available for a nice stay.

I'd suggest checking out some motels (<a href="http://www.zoders.com">Zoder's Inn</a> is one of our favorites) and <a href="http://www.mountainlaurelchalets.com">chalet rentals</a> before using an exchange.

Zoder's is right in town- you can walk easily to many things and the Nat'l Park is a short drive away. The chalets are very private and most are located on the hillsides overlooking Gatlinburg.

Tree Tops is a short drive from the downtown area and Town Square is in the downtown area. Mtn Loft and Westgate are just outside town.

Mountain Loft is nice enough, but you should check into the cash rates to help you decide if it's worth DVC points. Here's their website:
