I am planning my 3rd week of vacation to Gatlinburg TN. My 1st week is at Wilderness lOdge, 2nd at Vero. NOw I need help for the 3rd week. I would like a 2 bedroom cabin, with a mountain view. I will not use points, but cash reservation. The DVC resorts are perfect and would like something simular.

Thanks to all the traveling pros out there

go to

www.tug2.net

in the Eastern section - ask this question.

there are several timeshares there -

MountainLoft Resort is probably what you would like - but I am no expert....

You might also look at Club Chalet - there reviews are not as nice - there is no local pool or hot tub here - but it is definitely in the mountain.......

If you'd consider a non-timeshare rental, we've rented chalets many times from the area. Here is a link with some information:
www.MtLaurelChalets.com

There are many great places (of all sizes) available at reasonable rates.

Timeshares include Tree Tops, Gatlinburg Town Square, Sunrise Ridge and many others.

Enjoy!

We have been to Gatlinburg more times than Disney (Blasphemy!)

We recommend Mountain Laurel Chalets--highly. We have tried many places, but have had consistent great service and cabins from these folks.

If you would like restaurant suggestions, etc, contact me via pm or e-mail.

Have a Great Trip!

A new resort that is nice & between Piegon Forge & Gatlinresburg is Westgate resorts. Very nice & rustic . . . Also keep in mind that the traffic in Gatlinburg is horrible. If you will be driving in be prepared for the traffic and long waits in the traffic at 5 mph to get through town.

For timeshares, I'd also recommend Mt Loft, Laurel crest (Pigeon Forge) and Westgate. Some times of the year one can pick up a week for less than the maint fees at most timeshares. Gatlinburg Town square is also nice for those that like being in town. Tree tops is pretty nice too, right Doc.

I'd rather try to walk from Splash Mountain to the main gate along the parade route during the Very Merry Christmas parade on christmas day than drive in that area ever again. :cool2:

If you're looking for something a little more secluded from the mayhem, we stayed at pioneer meadow last summer. They have 4 cabins on top of a mountain. The road up the mountain is frightening, but the cabins are pretty cool. You can find them on the Internet at pioneermeadow.com.

Hope this helps,
Joe

We stayed at Gatlinburg Towne Square and the location is great. Its the 1st exit after leaving the Smokey Mountain park. You can duck in that way and take a short cut to Pigeon Forge.

We really like Treetops, but prefer the location of Gatlinburg Town Square so we can walk to downtown and exit to the park. We also were going to Gatlinburg this summer in July, but something has come up and we cannot go. There is a unit at Gatlinburg Town Square on the rent/trade board.

Wow.... YEARSSSS ago Gatlinburg was just a little sleepy town you'd drive thru on the way to get your picture taken with a genuine Cherokee Indian Chief ...... at least that's what his sign said.

Lots of cabins (some EXTREMELY nice) to choose from at http://www.smokymtncabins.com/. I've stayed in a 3BR and will be staying in one over spring break. I don't know how to get discounts and they are expensive. They show the view from each cabin as well as pics throughout so you can see what you're getting. Be sure to ask for one near Gatlinburg, as they are scattered all around the area. Most have views, some spectacular of LeConte, etc.

Enter Gatlinburg by 321 off of Interstate 40. MUCH less traffic than going through the abomination known as Pigeon Forge. If you go during the CAR SHOW plan on NOT moving in your car at all through Pigeon Forge. It will take 3 to 4 hours to get through town that weekend ( 15miles) as the low riders are driving round and round in circles at about 2-3 miles per hour.

It is SAD to see what's happened to that area. But merchants go where the money is.

We have used a cabin company called Cobly Knob - no making fun of the name. They have a great selection. As for the chief - I remember being a kid and he would charge you to take your picture with him...Don't feed the bears!!!:jester:
