We just bought a Maclaen Twin Techno and plan to gate check it at the airport. I've heard that some other DISers strollers have been damaged when gate checked, so we're thinking a stroller bag might help...do you recommend getting one? Any suggestions on a good bag for a double stroller? Thanks!

I HIGHLY recommend a travel bag if you're checking a valuable stroller (valuable is different for different people....but if you're caring enough to ask about it, then the stroller is valuable). I know they make standard stroller bags. I can't help on specifics because my doubles are all larger and I get the bag that is specifically made for the stroller. Have you tried looking on BRU website to see what they have? Make sure the bag has some padding and isn't just a thin bag.

I am using one this time and finally found one that fits my Phil & Ted without having to remove the front wheel and handlebar (actually a friend is letting me borrow it) I will have to get it out and check the brand on it. It is huge! LOL!! I think me and both kids could probably squeeze in it! LOL!!

I agree...if you have a pricey stroller get a bag. Our double was damaged by the airline. It has a lot of miles on it, so I'm not going to complain to the company.

We're gate checking a Baby Jogger City Series Double Jogger and I'm going to buy the specific bag made for it. Hope it keeps it safe from damage!

Maclaren makes a double stroller bag. Of course, I could not find one anywhere before our last trip. I couldn't find a double stroller bag anywhere that would fit our stroller.

I didn't want to spend $80 on the travel bag for my jogging stroller on our last trip (it's big enough folded up that it wouldn't even fit in any other brand bag I could find) so instead, I bought some bubble wrap (Target, it comes in a roll w/perforations so you just tear off as many sheets as you need) and some hand tearable packing tape. Once at the airport, I wrapped the foam handles w/the bubble wrap and bungied the stroller closed. I thought about taking the wheels off, putting them into a small bag, and carrying them on, but decided against it because we were already carrying enough stuff onto the plane. The stroller made it thru fine both ways, and we had to gate check it twice, each way. DH even watched them offload it from the jetway down to the tarmac to be loaded under the plane, and they were actually very careful with it. We've also gate checked a few other strollers and (knock on wood) have never had any problems w/our strollers being ruined. Once the foam handle on one did get torn, which is why I wrapped the joggers handle with packing tape and it worked beautifully. Not to say it never happens but I just wanted to reassure you that it's not necessarily likely either. hth!
