Hello everyone,

About a month ago I had the gastric bypass done. I am able to eat VERY LITTLE at any time. Although I am losing weight, I love going to Disney and EATING!

Has anyone had the Gastric Bypass and would not mind sharing their ideas/experiences??

Also, my boyfriend loves Disney buffets (especially Epcot, Germany)...I was wondering if buffets would allow my boyfriend and I to share a plate considering the fact that I can't eat very much even if I tried.

I really need help with this as my boyfriend and I have been annual ticket holders for the past two years but have ceased to go because this surgery is very new to me and I don't know what to expect.

Thank you very much in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :flower3:

My wife had the lap band procedure done and we had a similiar concern. I called DWD Dine adn spoke to a CM who said that the Dr. usually will provide you wilth something that states your having that surgery and reduced eating capacity (our Dr. gives all of his patients a card stating that fact). The CM also stated that many WDW restaurants will than allow you order of the children's menu if needed. I do not know if that would mean taht you would be charged childrens cost for a buffet, but something I would call Dining and inquire about.

I would guess that you would need to pay full price to eat at one of the buffets. Seems like I've read something about an "entertainment fee" for some places if you do not wish to eat at all but get in. I hope someone can clarify.

If there is an entertainment fee for some place like Biergarten, for example, perhaps pay that and not eat - but maybe they'd let you bring in some food from the German fast food place outside?

The buffets are expensive for being able to eat so little of it! Congrats on your surgery however and have a great trip!

They may let you pay the child price for the buffet but I don't see them letting you eat for free, which is what sharing is. Many children eat almost nothing. You're paying for the characters, dining experience and for the fixed costs of running the restaurant.

I hope I can help a little here. I asked this quetsion a year or so back when I had had the Roux-en-Y and was planning on going. We had to delay our trip to this year so things a a little differnt but not much.

Anyway!
What I know and have been told is that you will have to pay the adult price at a buffet or if you don't eat at all, you'll have to pay an entertainment fee. What that costs I'm not sure. But evidently most resuarants are cool about us ordering off of the kiddie menus. I have that card that was mentioned from my surgeon and it says: "The person above has had a special procedure that restricts food volume to approximately one tenth of normal adult consumption. We would appreciate it very much if this person's meal can be portioned and purchased at a reduced, senior or child price. Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation."
I honestly have yet to use it. Sometimes I forget to have it on me and others I'm just too chicken to ask and hey, most kiddie menus are nearly as good as the ones at WDW so I never want anything from them. So I bring a LOT of food home and often have to explain why it looks like I haven't eaten. they usually think the food wasn't good enough but understand immediately when I tell them what I had done. By the time you go it will be about 8 months later. Hopefully you'll be able to eat more of a varierty by then. I STILL have problems with beef (and other foods)! :( I used to LOVE steak but it is so hard to eat now and not get sick. And I can't even TOUCH a hamburger. :( I hardly kept a thing down my first 3 months. Hopefully it's going better for you! Any questions? Feel free to e-mail me! You'll be there before I am though so you'll know the actuals about how it works before I do. Good luck on EVERYTHING!!!!! :flower:
