Gaston's not on DDP??

I was on the touring plans website looking at menus, and it states under Gaston's Tavern that it is not on the dining plan, and under 2013 it says "Will not participate". Is this typical when a restaurant isn't open yet??

Chances are that it will be. It's Disney owned and I don't think there's a single, Disney owned and operated restaurant that is not part of the dining plans (except V&A, but that's a whole different category).

Has there been confirmation they will actually have meals in there?

So far I've just seen apple slurpees and cinnabuns.

Thanks for the responses...I assumed it would probably be on the DDP, but then after reading it I began to question.
The Disney Food Blog made it sound like it would be a quick serv restaurant, so hopefully they sell meals :)

They may be basing it on the fact that Gaston's is not listed on the 2013 DDP brochure as a CS restaurant, whereas Be Our Guest is.

That might indeed mean Gaston's won't be accepting the DDP. It might also mean they won't sell full meals. Right now there is no real confirmation on either, as a full menu has not been released. The only thing that's been released so far is a frozen apple drink and cinnamon buns. And if they only serve snacks, like Sleepy Hollow, it won't appear on the brochure.

But it's worthwhile to wait and see what Disney announces, rather than an unofficial website. Unless somebody at that website knows something that the rest of us don't know yet.

That's what I wondered too, since Be Our Guest was on there for CS. We'll just have to wait and see.... :)

Only 1 restaurant doing table service at Downtown Disney, only 4 at Epcot... it goes on and on... why are there suddenly so few participating restaurants?
I'm not a happy Goofy!!

touring plans usually lists this even on restaurants that will most likely participate but haven't been announced yet. So don't take this too seriously at this point. In most cases this is because contracts with disney haven't been finalized.

Some other examples that touring plans lists as not participating, but are expected to be included at a later date: most downtown disney restaurants (like trex, bongos, planet hollywood), most epcot world showcase restaurants (like tedden edo, san angel, via napoli) , rainforest cafe, yak & yeti, even some boardwalk restaurants (like big river brewworks).

As my comments above, in most cases this is because contracts with disney haven't been finalized/announced. Don't worry too much about it. It's safe to assume that if it was accepted in 2012, it will also be accepted in 2013.

that way every yr until closer to end of current yr. they dont finalize everything at once. i always worried but never an issue when new yr rolls around...:scared: Its almost guaranteed business for non-dis resturants.

relax ......non-partication would definitely hurt wdw bottom line for sale of the dining plans !!!!!!!!!!!!

Fanks.... Goofy not so grumpy now...:thumbsup2 it would be nice if they had a definitive list earlier though... I should be able to start making reservations soon, but can't until I'm sure they will be on the list. :rolleyes1

Go ahead and make the reservations as soon as you can. You can always cancel later. If you wait until later, you may have very limited (or no) choices for reservation times. Many places do not require a CC guarentee or prepayment, so you can cancel anytime. For those that do, you have until 1-2 days before the reservation to cancel. So you should know before then which ones are included or not.

Just to be clear...it is very safe to go ahead and assume that what was covered the previous year will be covered this year. The chance of them not being covered is slim. And if this changes, you'll see lots of people mention/complain about it here.

For a list of the restaurants that have a CC guarentee or prepayment required, see the first page of the thread here:

Good point, fanks, I'll revert to plan A and see how it pans out... I've never seen the pdf with so few restaurants on it before and didn't realise it wasn't the final list. :thumbsup2
