It has been announced at the D23 Expo today that a GASTON restaurant will open in the newly themed FANTASYLAND in 2012. This will be the first VILLIAN themed restaurant

I will be curious to see what they'll be changing in Toon Town since it'll be Fantasy Land now. I hope they don't get rid of the staples..Mickey and Minnie's houses...etc..

No, not the first villiam themed restraurant. They tried this once before and it did not work. I vaguely remember it, but am sure some of my other disboard friends will chime in. Can't remember if it was at the GF befor 1900 PF.

BTW--I did see the news about the new Fantasyland and the destruction of ToonTown.

I can't wait for this restaurant. I wonder what the menu will be like, and if it will be a character meal, or just a very heavily themed dining room.

Actually, it worked quite well and I'm guessing that's the reason they are making an entire Villains restaurant. The former Villains dinner was at 1900 Park Fare and was very popular. It was only done away with because of the uber-popularity of the CRT meals. The Villains dinner was discontinued to make way for the current Cinderella dinner.

The Villains were so great to interact with. We had especially funny encounters with Prince John, Cruella, Captain Hook and the Queen of Hearts. The Villains dinner was our favorite character meal. I am thrilled about the announcement of Gaston's as are DD17 and DS15. We can't wait to eat there!

Oh it just must be a character restaurant!!! How cool would that be! I know that sometimes it can scare young ones, but if done right how awesome!
I for one would love that place. Can't wait.
I have been looking thru all the new news and didn't see a date on when the restaurant will be open, maybe I was too excited to catch it. When does it open?

Actually it is two diing places opening - a full service place called 'Be Our Guest' and the 'Gaston Tavern'. Intersting to see if the tavern will stick to the age old rule of 'no alchol' at the MK

The Liberry Tree Tavern does, so we always have to have root beer.

Thanks, I thought it was at the GF. Yes, I don't remember it was around for very long. My DH was a CM for Disney then so we went quite often. I remember this place closed before we ever got a chance to go. My GS was young and would not go. I believe there were alot of kids that didn't like it, though adults loved it. Heck, I can't even get my granddaughters (4yo and 2yo) to get their pictures with any of the Disney characters so we can't do any character buffets, except princess (Norway and 1900). That's it for us. I tried to convince 4yo GD to go to Cape May for breakfast in May, but she wanted no part of that. I guess we'll never do the villian meal.

there is a character meal with villains at it - Cinderella's Royal Table dinner. But even so, this is great news! The meals are geared towards little girls, so it will be exciting to see who they will have at Gaston's Tavern!

Cinderella's doesn't have villains. Dinner there is Cindy, the Fairy Godmother, and the Mice. The Stepsisters are at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. Not to be rude, but if that is your article that you linked you need to fact-check a little better before you publish.

Yes, it was announced this afternoon at the D23 Expo in CA. Lots of changes are coming to MK and a few new things are happening elsewhere in FL too. I am super excited to see that Iger and Lasseter are giving some love to the parks and ultimately to the guest.
