Fixed or variable Natural Gas prices

Any opinions as to whether to go with a fixed rate per therm as opposed to a variable rate per therm? I'm not sure how you would make out better and if they are predicting that Natural Gas prices will go up some more. It would make sense that they would be lower in the summer and then you could fix them for winter but I'm not sure how the industry works.

I know it's a boring question so if you like add stuff about refillable mugs... I had to change the title to trick you to look

Lots of views and no experts on Gas.:(

Lan,

We did variable rate and are now kicking ourselves. If we'd done fixed rate, our gas bills would be about a third less than they are right now. Live and learn.

I locked in a $98 per month price for our natural gas for one year last Oct. I pay $98 per month for 12 months, basically $1,200 for the year, regardless my usage or rate. So far, I'm VERY happy.
