Anyone just back that could clue me in on gas prices in southern states like Virginia, South/North Carolina, Georgia and Florida along I-95. Just a general idea so I can be prepared. We'll be driving from Philadelphia, PA area in 10 days and just heard gas prices will be going up soon.

I'll wave to you on my way down as well.

Last year, we drove from the same area (west suburbs of Philly ), adn the gas was $1.09/ in Georgia, $1.19 in other parts. I never saw it less than $1.09

Florida was a little more depending on where you were .. in Daytona Beach it was $1.47 but two exits after that it was $1.35 or so.

Some parts of DC were pretty high. Actually in Richmond area was about the same as it was in PA at the time $1.45/1.52

This was last August if that helps.

I drive down I95 everyday for work from exit 76 to exit 36a in Georgia. The racetrac @ exit 36a always has low prices. This week they are around 1.35. Exit 78 only has one good gas station and they gas there is around 1.48 this week. This is for the least expensive gas. Add 20 cents for the premium stuff. I know once you get into Florida, the gas price jumps. Not sure why, but I would definately fill up in Georgia.

Around central NC right now, it's running around 1.45 - 1.49 on I95 for reg unleaded. NC is high compared to other places. Your best bet is to top off somewhere in VA to get you to SC. Thier gas is cheaper.

I believe if you go to the I95 website on this board (link is on the home page of the message board at the bottom), you can check the gas prices for each exit. If you can't get the actual prices, it at least points out which ones have the cheaper gas.

I just made the drive to Hilton Head Island and the prices along 95 are between 1.40 and 1.50...not much different than around here (I am only a hop skip and jump from you in Phoenixville, PA). The family and I will be headed down to flordia in less than a month...the drive isn't that bad! Good luck and happy driving!

Prices in the Atlanta area are currently $1.48. They've shot up in the past week from $1.32. Florida gas prices are typically higher.

So actually in NJ it is cheaper! And they pump it for you no extra charge.. I just bougth some the other day and it was 1.34 regular.

Thats not atrociously higher than what I was paying when I lived in PA.

Right now, gas in central Florida (I live in Sarasota) is about $1.55 for unleaded. During the last trip to Georgia I took, just a few weeks ago, gas was typically 20-25 cents cheaper than Florida.

Alot cheaper than here I see. We are around 1.59 for cheapest.

We drove down last June and the August before that and prices were higher then.

Just trying to budget. Thanks for the replies.

Jersey is always cheaper! People just don't understand you do not pay to have you gas pumped in NJ. It is law thus you are not charged for the service. Now if you are in NJ and you feel that you should have you oil checked, windows washed, etc because someone is pumping your gas than expect to get some attitude. I pumped gas while in College in the mid 90's. NJ IS CHEAPER for gas, just outrageous for everything else you buy in NJ - LOL

For some reason, just south of Savannah in Richmond Hill is always cheaper than Savannah - It's about 1.37 to Savannah's 1.42 right now. Exit for Hwy 204 in Savannah is the worst - even the El Cheapo is Expensivo! One more exit to Hwy 93, Richmond Hill, can save you a nickel or a dime per gallon.

When Driving to FL try to get as much of your gas in GA as possible as we have a much lower gas tax then our neighboring states. It can be as much as 20-40 cents per gallon more in FL.
