Is anyone concerned about the cost of fuel this summer? Here in upstate NY, we are now paying $1.89 per. gal. of deisel. The cost is exspected to go up in the summer.
We have a 1320 mile trip to FW, (one way). Are the gas prices lower as you go further south?

I sure hope they are lower, we have a trip planned for Aug. In 2001 when we went we thought the price was HIGH at 1.32/gal gas. I think my change jar needs to be bigger!

Have a great time.

I would be sure to fill up while you are still in Georgia. We were up there recently (we live in South Florida) and gas prices were about 20 cents cheaper up there and rose as soon as we crossed the border back into FL.
We must have higher taxes...?

I do remember gas being cheaper in the Carolina's and Ga. then in Fl.
Hey, it's still cheaper to drive and tow the camper then it is for a family of 5 to fly and stay in a hotel, right?:)

Got home from weekend at FW on monday morning. Went to fill up yesterday and paid $1.939 for reg. Bicycled to store about 45 minutes ago and the price at same station was $1.949. On the way back from the store, 15 minutes later, the price was $1.959. Have to go past the station again this afternoon and expect to see a higher price.
We live 2.5 hrs. away from WDW on the west coast of Fl.

Go to www.flyingj.com and get current prices for gas and diesel for your trip down. Prices do go down as you head south but if things keep on going the way they are bet we'll see 20 to 40 cents more per gallon by end of summer.

Our son just got back from Afghanistan and was down this past weekend and is now heading back to Watertown, N.Y.

Ga. is the best place to fill up before entering Fl. Because our taxes on gas are so high I heard on the news that our LEADERS have passed a tax reduction of 9 cents per gallon that I believe is set to go into effect in Aug.

John,
Thanks for the link............I'll check it out.
Your son must be stationed at Ft. Drum. We are too. Glad he is back from deployment safely. Hope he doesn't need to go again any time soon. We're "squeezing" this trip in before my husband has to leave this fall.

We are paying $2.05 a gallon here in Wisconsin right now. We went down over Easter E150 van pulling a medium sized pop up. Our total cost for a 2 week trip was about $450.00. It got cheaper as soon as we got out of the Milwaukee area (by about 20 cents. Generally anything from Tennessee on down is cheaper until you get back into Florida, then it goes up a bit. The cheapest we paid was $1.61 this trip.

Parmtoo,

We just got back from Disney last week and were pleasantly surprised about the price of diesel fuel. We stopped at the Hess stations in South Carolina and Georgia and we never paid over $1.53 a gallon. I think that's a great price considering what regular gas prices are.

Have a safe trip.

Our gas prices have been holding for about a week here in Oregon at around $2.35/gallon. It looks like it's much cheaper for you folks in the eastern part of the states.

Great news about the diesel in the south!
Here in NY, it's about 1.80 per gallon. We have 1320 mile trip, and even with fuel going up, I think we'll be ok. Our truck gets good mileage. I think it may cost around $500. Not to bad for a family of 5.

JUST CAME back from a trip to Hamburg NY (BUFFALO AREA)
GAS PRICE WAS 207 IN TOWN,...
route 17 best price 203...
back home (suffolk county )...paid 2.14 reg...........ouch...
going to FW in January - Feb 05 with my big rv.......
and to Winnebago rally in Iowa in July....ugh...this is getting ugly...
SPINNER.

Hey, Spinner! I grew up in Western New York! Ever hear of Collins? Only about 20 minutes from Hamburg. I'm surprised you didn't time your trip around the corn festival!

By the way, everyone interested in gas prices. I will be driving down from Eastern PA this weekend to take my daughter to the CP and will be more than happy to report the gas prices we encounter on the way down and back.

We're paying about 2.17 for regular here on Long Island..in Nassau county..that's about the cheapest I've found. I am concerned about it getting up near the $3.00 they have talked about for the summer. It's crazy...hope it's just the usual Memorial Day hike...and maybe it'll drop back a bit. We are trying to squeeze a trip in August...sort of an extra for us..as we usual go every other year and have stayed at the WL. This time out we wanted to give FW a try...have always wanted to bring the TT there...but I think we'll just have to wait and see what the prices bring...if they are that high..we might just have to wait.

Took our trailer upstate NY(Lake George area) from L.I. for a seasonal site last weekend and it cost us close to $80.00...at least we left the trailer there...and I figure at least it won't cost us so much in gas for the season...since it's already on site.. as opposed to towing it for the rest of the season...the plan was to pull out for 2 weeks in August for Disney. Guess we'll wait and see, already have our reservations...so time will tell.

Well, Memorial Day weekend was our first experience pulling our TT with our "new to us" Suburban....I have to say, I was hoping for better that the 8 1/2 -9 miles to the gallon we got. HOWEVER, even figuring gas at the doomsday predictions of $3.00 a gallon:faint:, I still am saving at least $1000 over a flight, rental car, and economy room on site. Not to mention, I'm sure I will be much more comfortable in my TT.

We paid anywhere from 1.799 to a high of 2.139 on a 3000 mile round trip to DW and FW. Gas actually went down while we were gone. Some stations we filled at going down were lower priced coming back. :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

I am noticing fuel prices staying about the same here in NY State. They haven't changed in a few weeks and I hope they go down soon. Keeping my fingers crossed they drop before Aug.:smooth:
