Gas Grill Suggestions

Looking for gas grill suggestions on brand name, features, east to clean, etc. Price range $200 - 250. Long story--I have not actually grilled myself before--so I want something easy to use.

I found a Grill Master at Lowes for $199--seemed to have pretty good reviews, but some commented that the grills broke easy and coating flaked off. My neighbor has a Weber portable and is really happy with it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is a Protection Plan worth purchasing for a Gas Grill?

I would go with a Weber. we've had a silver B for 10 years now and it's as good as the day we bought it. it's more grill than it sounds like you are looking for, but they really make a quality product.

I also recommend a Weber. We had a Kenmore for about 3 years and had to replace it. Got a Weber about 5 years ago and the only thing we need to fix now is the starter, which is a simple replacement part.

I would recommend Weber also. 11 yrs on my platinum series with replacing the burners once. My neighbor is on his 3rd $250 grill now in the same time

I got the "cheapest" Weber a few years ago, and it has been perfect for us. I did not WANT a huge grill, and I did NOT want the side burner. I never use the side burner. I wish I remembered the cost, about $300-400. I knew others were cheaper, but I was tired of them breaking in just a few years of use.

Holland is the best. My parents got a Weber a couple years ago, but sold it last summer to get another Holland - no flame ups to worry about and it grills wonderfully.

We have an inexpensive Weber that we purchased about six months ago from Lowe's.

I wanted the least expensive grill, with the best ratings that we could find, and that one hit the mark. We paid around $250 for it, and I plan to pass it on to my oldest daughter in a couple of months (we're putting in an outdoor kitchen).

I can attest to the fact that it makes GREAT steaks.

We like Weber and Char Broil. I advise staying away from the lesser names. We bought a Grill Master from Lowes and when we needed to replace the burners (5 of them) they were priced individually at $30 each plus freight! Our $300 grill was going to cost us close to $200 to replace the burners!

Webber. I had a Webber for years and really liked it. Four years ago my family got me a Ducane stainless steel grill. It sure looks nice but, I really dislike it. Had to replace all the burners after two years, terrible flame ups and now some of the igniters don't work. Looks nice though.

We have a Kenmore 4-burner; would highly recommend it. We always use the four burners for barbecuing and general indirect heat cooking, and need at least four burners. This one was only about $240 with tax at Sear's, and it's been great. Very reliable, and makes delicious food.

Other than that, I would recommend getting Grill Grates for your grill. We thought we were having great grilling until we bought those and realized that we were missing the super-hot searing temps! The Grill Grates have changed the way we look at grilling and what we expect; you could use a grill without them, but if you don't have a high-end super heated high-heat grill, Grill Grates can duplicate that. (I am not a spokesperson. )

After 25 years of cheap grills, we finally broke down and bought a Weber.
Best decision we ever made!!!!

We have a char-broil infared and love love love it!!! Everything is stainless steel so DH just scrubs it with a brillo pad a couple times a year and it looks like brand new. We have had it for almost 4 years and it gets used a couple times a week. I highly recommend it. I have only had it flame up once and that was cooking extreamly cheap and greasy bacon.

What are "the Grill Grates"? Do you have a link? I found something spelled Grill Greats, is it the same thing?

Ours is found at grillgrate.com. I'm not sure if this will be deleted as a referral link; we just really like them! DBF always wanted nice, dark grill marks and a good sear, but we live in the north and grill in some chilly temps and he couldn't always get it - we get great looking and great tasting steaks on the grates all the time, instead of just when we can keep a hot hot grill.

That's what happened to the $1k Jennaire grill we bought about four years ago. That thing was the biggest hunk of crap ever.

Wanted to get opinions on whether purchasing a Protection Plan is worth it?

I am leaning toward buying a Weber.

I just went to Lowes 2 weeks ago and bought one. I just bought the one that fit the space we have for it on the deck. I don't pay attention to brands anymore. Just space and cost.

We replace our gas grill every 3 years or so because that is when it is rusty. I gave up trying to keep it covered because I grill every other day practically and I got tired of dealing with it.

I never buy the protection plan. Now if the grill was 400.00 then I'd consider a look at the plan and see what it covered. There's no point in getting it if it barely covers anything.
