How do you change your driving habits?

I don't. In the grand scheme of things, the change in gas prices has only changed my monthly outlay by about $20.00, not the end of the world.

The thing that hurts me more is the lower fuel economy in the winter due to warm up times of the car and the oxygenated gasoline (to decrease low level emissions).

For me, I try to get all my errands done in one day starting the farthest away from the house and working inwards so that I am not driving back and forth all day. I drive DS to school and pick him up, but he is about 2 miles from the house so that is not too bad. If I realize that somethign needs to be picked up from the store, I typically have DH pick it up on his way home as he passes 2 different stores on his route. We don't usually go out too much during the week due to work and school(unless there is an event or party) so we usually pick one day on the weekend to get out to go do somethig away from the house. DH spends the most on gas(he works about 40 minutes away) and I am a SAHM, but I have been managing to make a tank of gas(in a Durango!) last for about 2 weeks. That definitely helps as it is about $60-70 each time we fill up.

I don't have to commute, but when I do drive I still wind it out to redline just to hear the supercharger scream!

We started carpooling at the last gas price increase. It has really helped and it reduces stress since we switch up driving duties.

I always waste a lot of gas driving everywhere, even joy riding when I have nothing to do especially at night because DH doesn't get home until 2 or 2 30, and I get bored, can't sleep, and drive sightseeing my area. But the higher gas prices are killing my budget since I drive a gas guzzle. So higher gas prices have indeed affected me, sadly.

I have heard people are clustering their errands to do it all in one shot.

We no longer have to drive DH is now retired so we can pick an choose when we want to use gas even then we combine errands when we can, try to avoid back tracking. DH sold his unneeded gas hog just before gas started going up this time.

Driving my Focus more, and my Suburban less, other than that, I have to go to work, and that's where I use almost all of my gasoline.
While our public transit is pretty bad, a 15 minute drive takes a little over 2 hours by bus and light rail.......they aren't an option since I have to be at work at 3 am, and they don't start running until 5:30 am.

We are actually in a better position then we were last time. My sons school is about 20 minutes away. Before we would drive down the hill drop him off come home go down and get him then add football practice and games into it. Now he drives and it is one trip down, one trip up. DH is commuting farther but gets a free prius and free gas so that is less then when he commuted closer to home and he doesn't have to pay tolls on top of it. We try and run errands al together but that stuff is just right by us so it isn't as bad. I am acutally in the market for a gas guzzler so I am expecting to see those prices come down.
