Gas - $4 a gallon.. Has it hit your area yet - and if not, how long before it does?

Was watching the local news last night (upstate NY) and there were some who were predicting that gas would hit $4 a gallon (for regular unleaded) by the 4th of July..

Early last evening I had to run over to town and it was already $2.97 there.. It will definitely be $3 (if not higher) by Memorial Day Weekend..

What kind of prices are you looking at - and will it curtail your 4th of July activities?

I'm already where I celebrate the 4th, but I imagine my son-in-law will no longer be filling up his jet skiis and boat so friends can use them whenever the mood strikes.. Hopefully they'll "offer", but if they don't, I think he may just have to come right out and tell them that he can't afford to subsidize their recreational activities at those prices.. (And keep in mind - whatever the cost of gas is "on the road", it's always substantially higher at the marinas and you're not allowed to fill your watercraft from gas cans here because the lake is actually a "reservoir" and has all sorts of very strict policies..)

Gas is $2.62 a gal. here in S. Jersey, oh yes it is going up very fast! I guess it is a good thing that I stay home most of the time. I'm not one to travel to far, just local. Guess I will be combing alot of my trips! :sad2:

$2.65 in Bloomington (just outside of Minneapolis)

I LOVE weekend road trips during the summer! It looks like we'll have to severely curtail those now though. :(

I am driving to Orlando on July 1st (from outside Washington DC) and if the gas is $6 a gallon I am still going to do it.

I would love it if gas hit $4 a gallon in July over here as it is $6 a gallon right now :lmao:

Just filled up - $2.77 a gallon (Pensacola, FL) :o(

From Wednesday of this week to Friday, 2 days later, we went up .26 cents to $2.95 per gallon for cheapo regular. :furious:

we are at $2.91 on the north side of chicago, but down town, I've seen it at $3.22 for regular already!!!

I'm in the $2.50-$2.60 range....it goes up and down - up on Fridays and down again on Mondays. But, I'm sure that's purely coincidental.

If it hits $4.00/gal here, I'll most likely cut down my work days. I drive 1.5 hours each way and usually work about 4 days a week. I'd probably cut down to 3 days and then I'll also save on parking! :thumbsup2

Our gas was 2.99 per gallon last week and I truly believe it will be 4.00 or more per gallon by 4th of July.

I have seen it for 2.59-2.79 in Atlanta area

In our area it's about $2.75 a gallon. For a long time, we were one of the cheapest areas of the country, partially because we're close to Corpus Christi and other areas where the gas usually originates. But now I don't know what's happening. Some people I know are switching to Propane to run their vehicles-sounds kinda unsafe to me.

We're at $2.80 a gallon for the cheapest grade and over $3.10 for premium.

I'm gonna be mad when I hear about the record profits for the oil companies! :furious: (notice I said "WHEN!")

$2.77 a gallon right around the corner, but I've seen it at $2.85. I hope we're not looking at $4.00 a gallon by July 4. I'm thinking $3.25 or $3.50 but not much higher.

Argh. I certainly hope that this isn't a repeat of last summer. I already have my WDW trip paid for this summer, but the weekend trips I'm considering are definately out of the question if gas prices go this high again.

I paid 3.39 for premium (regular was 3:19), near my apartment in streeterville this morning. Came out to over 50 bucks!
