If the Fed loses control of the debt market our standard of living will change very rapidly. We saw what happened in the markets a couple months ago when the 10 year yield starting rising uncontrollably until the fed stepped in. The Fed is Buying up the debt and this is inflationary. As far as Gold I’ve never believed it was a hedge against inflation. I think it’s a lot more complex than that. I do think it has a place in a good portfolio as long as its the physical stuff.

Sounds about right. I thought prices had stabilized until I went to Costco for the first time in a month it was shocking. I assume people will start pulling back on eating out and travel eventually. I know I will be.

I think it’s already underway. Just noticed one of my favorite restaurants closed down. I asked people who worked in the area what happened and they said that business had slowed. Went to a different restaurant the other night and was shocked at how much prices had jumped. Won’t be going there too often, as good as it was.

We finally hit $3.99 in western PA last time I got gas, Sunday. Unfortunately I wasn't at home where Premium is $0.20 more at Sheetz and had to fill at $0.70 more for Premium so I still paid $4.69. I am now driving to Erie and back twice a weekend to pick up and take my daughter back to school. 93 miles one way I think so I'm doing close to 400 miles every weekend so far. She's staying the next 3 though, unfortunately for us since we don't get to see our baby, LOL, but fortunately for the checkbook with fuel cost.

The 3rd weekend I suppose I'll still have a trip. It's Family night on Friday and then I may catch a room, hang out with her on Saturday then watch the hockey season opener at home. Kind of excited to have a team in hockey that means a little bit to us over just the Penguins in the NHL.
