Garden View Lounge?

I was hoping to have traditional afternoon tea for my reception and found, at the suggestion of people on here, the idea of the Garden View Lounge at the GF to be perfect for what I had in mind.

Does anyone any any pictures of this? (I can only find 2 on line) Or info on if having a recpetion here is even possible? I'll be a custom bride, if that makes a difference. Alternative locations would also be great, if anyone has any ideas.

theres info about the garden view lounge in my packet from our site visit:

garden view lounge - disneys grand floridian resort & spa
private events may be held from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. or after 8 p.m. the food & beverage minimum prior to 1 p.m. is $500.00 & after 8 p.m. the food & beverage minimum is $1,000.00 this location comfortably seats 50 guests. for a standing reception the garden view lounge can host up to 65 guests. this location utilizes existing seating.

Hmmm... Before 1 pm... Well, that throws a wrench in that... I was hoping for a little later in the afternoon. Prior to 1pm is pushing it for afternoon tea! I guess I either make do with having everything early or find somewhere else. (On a positive note, the minimum is way less then I was anticipating, I was thinking $100 per person.)

That was VERY helpful, though, thank you!! I don't guess anyone has any brilliant ideas for where else to consider? The Garden View lounge just seemed perfect, it reminded me of tea at the Ritz in London which was exactly what I was going for...

What about the Whitehall Room at the Grand Floridian? Not the same as the garden view lounge, as it won't have the furniture, etc. But still has some natural light from the doors. And you wouldn't have time restrictions - just the DFTW $$$ minimums.

There were pics on another recent post of the boardwalk attic. It was very cute in a whimsical way. It looks like a little antique tea room.

Ember-I'm not a bride; I'm perusing this board for anniversary ideas. I saw your post and wanted to say that my daughter and I had tea at the GVLounge last month, and it was lovely! The only pics I have are too close up to show much, but I'll send them to you if you'd like. The seating is a mixture of small tables, chairs, and tapestry-upholstered booths. Very pretty throw pillows here and there. I think it would be a beautiful reception setting, with full view of the castle through the wall of windows. I wonder if you could think of it more as a brunch-tea? Let me know if you would like more details. Best wishes!

dizneekim, I would love to see whatever pictures you have! I just sent a PM with my email address. As I said, I only have teo pictures (and one's not very good). I have to say that from your description I really does sound perfect. I didn't know about the view of the castle! Maybe brunch/tea wouldn't be so bad... When I start the planning process I'll talk to them about it, if it has to be early then oh well. Or maybe I might be able to do a buy-out for an entire sitting of tea in the afternoon... I'm going to try and track down some pictures of the other suggested locations, too. Thanks all!

Glass Slipper Girl- Your photos captured the area well! I think it would be a very pretty, romantic spot for a reception. Even though it was so nice, I did not have the impression that it was at all stuffy. I hope to get DH in there for tea next week so he can see for himself why DD and I enjoyed it so much!
