We are making a spontanous trip from Dec 16-20th. Since this is short notice the only character dinner I can get an ADR for is the Garden Grove on a Wednesday night. We have never been to the Garden Grove.

What can we expect?
Which characters will be there?
Is this restaurant a buffet or family style?

Thanks in advance!

We ate there last Wed, and think the Garden Grill is lots of fun! It seems quieter than most other character meals because of the way the restaurant is laid out. Farmer Mickey is there, with Pluto, Chip & Dale. They make several rounds to visit tables for photo-ops.

The food sometimes gets a bad rap here, but we found it tasty and filling. It is served family style, and the server will bring you more of anything you need. There was a nice garden salad with bread and butter; flank steak with herb butter, over mashed potatoes; roast turkey over dressing, with cranberry sauce on the side; mahi-mahi over mixed steamed veggies; and a berry cobbler with fresh whipped cream. The 3 of us couldn't finish dessert, after seconds of all the meats.

Enjoy your trip, holiday time at WDW is great!! :goodvibes

Do you mean the Garden Grove at the Swan? I thought it was only characters on Saturday and Sunday monring brunches.

If you mean Garden Grill we really enjoyed it. There is a dining review on my blog (link in signature) it is under Restaurant Reviews in my blog. There are a couple of pictures too.

OP -- sorry if I misunderstood. I didn't know about Garden Grove at Swan, I thought you meant Garden Grill in the Land pavillion at Epcot. :flower3:

Garden Grove at the Swan has character dinners every night. Monday and Friday the characters are Timon and Rafiki from the Lion King. Every other night it's Goofy and Pluto.

The character breakfast is on weekends only. All meals are buffet.

They're not on the dining plan, so it's often easier to get in at short notice.

Expect a smaller crowd than most any other restaurant you will go to that week.

Wednesday night should be Pluto and Goofy.

Buffet. Make sure to check for food options in all three sections, not just the main entree area.

Enjoy!

If OP meant Garden Grill, I entirely agree with everything here!
