Good morning everyone!

I just placed an order with gg this morning and since this my first time, I am a bit nervous. The first glitch came when their system wouldn't accept my credit card but I gave their friendly customer care line a call and they straightened it all out for me.

I am just wondering has anyone used them recently and what was your experience. I assume if we are not at the resort when the groceries are delivered they will leave them with Bell Services, correct? I originally had put in a tip in the box when I tried to use my credit card but I notice once I picked a different option (print and call) and printed out my receipt the tip amount disappeared. I feel bad and would like to tip the delivery person. I guess the only way to do that is to make sure we're around when the delivery is made.

Just wanted to get experienced DVCers recent opinions on their service. I'm sure everything will be fine but I am a worrier (just ask my DH!) :rotfl:

We have used their service a number of times now. At first they would bring the groceries to our room after we had arrived - the driver would go over each item to make sure our order was complete. We would tip the driver at that time. I later started adding the tip to the original payment.

The last 3 times our order was at Bell Services when we arrived, but once our order was incomplete and I had to call GG. They promised to bring the missing items and did bring 2 of them - but we were still missing an item. 2 more phone calls and 18 hours later we finally had our complete order. A tip had already been included with the original order.

Our last trip (this month), we again used GG and eventhing was in order - although it was again delivered to the Bell stand. I did not include a tip to GG and probably will not in the future - I'll just tip the bellman who brings everything to our room.

We have liked the selection of items and the fact that the pricing is available online before ordering. I suspect that they have started delivering orders to the Bell stand because they may have found difficulty with people not being in their room when GG arrived with the delivery. I don't care how it's done as long as the order is complete and arrives in a timely fashion.

We used GG this December, and did not have any problems at all. Our order was left at the Bell service desk, as it was delivered before our room was ready. I would not hesitate to use them again.

Thanks Doc - thanks Mac. You both have made me feel better about it. If anyone else would like to share their recent experience, I am all ears!

I'm sure things will be fine and if there is a problem, it will be straightened out. I can hardly wait for next Sunday when we leave. I just love SSR and am looking forward to an adults only trip with my hubby!

I have had good luck with Garden Grocer.

But here is an observation that never occurred to me until reading this thread. It seems like those times when we prepay the tip, the order is left with bell services. When I did not prepay the tip, GG called to get our room number and came to put everything away.

Hmmm...... Coincidence?:confused3

We have used the various shopping services and we have decided that renting a car for a day makes more sense. Publix is just down the road and it has everything and at great prices. We can go when we want, and depending on where we are staying, we can walk or take the Disney bus or rental shuttle to the agency. The savings in inflated food prices and tips, pays for the rental. :thumbsup2

brian - what a funny observation. I will have to remember to report back on whether our groceries are left with bell services or whether we get a call from gg for direct delivery to our room.

disneynutz - I thought about renting a car for a day. Depending on how our experience goes with gg, we might look into that next trip. But DH and are both seriously directionally challenged. I am talking I can get lost (real lost) even in my own city sometimes and a foreign grocery store visit? Forget it! I have spent more time in a Publix or Piggly Wiggly (at Hilton Head) than I care to think about until we figured out the layout! :)

We just used them in Dec.07 and they were GREAT!!! I ordered a bunch of items not on the menu (including beer, and carnation vanilla creamer sugar free) and they were able to get everthing for me. :thumbsup2

I LOVE the delivery services (used a different one so can't comment on GG). I don't like taking the time from my vacation to go to the grocery store. The fee for my groceries is less than the cost of a rental so the service is just better but your mileage may vary as the saying goes. I kick myself for all the years I didn't know the services existed and did it myself. Now I just spend that time in the parks.

:goodvibes We have used GG three times now while at SSR. Two times the groceries were brought up to our room (no items missing whatsoever), the 3rd time, the bellman had everything and we carried it up ourselves because we were passing right by there.

All 3 of our deliveries were on time...and no complaints whatsoever. I love the fact that we could have wine delivered with our order. We love sipping a glass of wine on our balcony late in the evening. (items that aren't listed, just ask...they will bring it:)

We also recommended GG to some friends and twice they have had stellar service from them also.

I intend on using them again next summer.

best of luck,
Esmerelda

We used GG in February and they delivered to Bell Services also. Everything went smoothly. If we use them again I am going to try tipping them on my end to see if they get delivered to the room.:thumbsup2

It is not my intention to hijack this thread but I used WeGoShop and they delivered to our room at the appointed time and I did not pay (groceries or tip) prior to delivery.

Sorry if I offended anyone.

I have never used any of these services, however reading that some and most have had good service. It appears I may do something like this, if I didnt rent a vehicle. I think its easier to rent a vehicle. You can go to the parks on your time, no waiting in line. You can go to dinner or other resorts faster. Walmart doesnt deliver but most are open 24 hours. Thats very easy for me. Next to SSR, there is a Walmart. No tipping or excessive fees needed. JW

Even renting a car, I like getting my "first batch" of stuff this way. We typically arrive on a Saturday, and Saturday nights are busy in the resort-area supermarkets, because that's a popular changeover day for timeshares.

To see what I mean, visit the Orange Lake Publix at 9PM on a Saturday, and again on a, say, Wednesday. Yoi and double yoi!

Personally, when we vacation...every moment we have away from our jobs is so precious to us. I am not one that likes to grocery shop when I could be lounging by the pool with a fantastic drink...shopping in DTD....or park hopping. The last time we actually left Disney property (in our car) to get groceries at Goodings...we were gone nearly 2 hrs and we only spent $50...LOL We didn't know where everything was in the store and shopping took longer than normal...plus the store was quite stuffed with other vacationers such as ourselves.

Since using a grocery delivery person over 2 years back....we save so much time and peace of mind. Its so worth it to me and its so much cheaper than buying it on property (did that once thru DVC...ouch!!)

Everyone has their reasons for using a grocery delivery service or venturing out on their own and shopping.

best of luck to you whatever path you chose,
Esmerelda :)

we also used this for our trip over Christmas. Marge(the owner) was outstanding. Delivery was exactly when she said it would be. She delivered everything to our room and went over our order. We paid after everything was accounted for. An actual store receipt was given to us and also had to pay a slight delivery fee($17). You also can choose the store you want her to shop at for you. I highly recommend this service to everyone.

I was thinking about doing the same. Want to load up on soda, beer, and food too, at regular prices. Who did you rent from? How did you get there? What Disney bus and rental shuttle? What did it run for a one day rental?

Has anyone ever compared the price of 2 taxi trips (one to Publix, another back to your resort) to the cost of a one day rental?

I tried look up National, but my computer is acting up. It appears however to be cheaper to pick up and return to Disney Car Care Center than World Dolphin, though I don't see any reason for that.

Ideas out there for cheapest way to and from Publix?

Thanks. I didn't know there was a Wal-Mart next to SSR. My first trip home won't be until Sept 2008. Do they have a complete grocery line, and beer and wine?

How soon before your trip do you order your food? I leave in 12 days.
