We are on the ddp. We have many character meals so that isnt a determining factor between the two. We have never been to either restaurant. The reservations are available at the same time 4:50 for each one, so time isnt a deciding factor. We are a party if 8. Which would you choose?

I have not been to Garden Grill or Teppen Edo in Epcot but have been to teppanaki place similar to Teppen Edo in our town. This is just my opinion but since you already have many character dining which I'm assuming will be "American" food so why not choose something different?

Teppanaki grill food is little different than your typical Japanese food and watching chef doing his "performance" will be fun for everyone especially if you never been to teppanaki place.

I wish I had more days at WDW in November so we could squeeze in Teppen Edo. For me, I try to make ADR to places we don't have in our town.

What are the ages in your party? The Teppan Grlle tables are for 8, so your party will have your own table.
I have never been to Garden Grille, but I love Teppan Edo. It is better than the Japanese Steakhouses near us.
Enjoy.

We have eaten at both places and have enjoyed both. They are both so different though so it really depends on how you look at it. You should weight out your options. Here are our pros for both places!

Garden Grill - Characters are awesome there, Chip & Dale are very very funny and who doesn't love Mickey and Pluto! Plus the restaurant is in the Land pavilion so very very close to Soarin which is a plus if you can coordinate your FP or a down time for Soarin with your ADR. The food there is pretty good and its brought right to your table and if you want seconds of something you just need to ask for it no problem, so its like a buffet that you never have to leave the table for, lol. The restaurant also rotates slowly so you get to see a portion or that boat ride below it which is cool. The wait staff has always been friendly there when we have went as well. We love Garden Grill and its always a must do for us when we go to Disney. We are excited to try their breakfast though this time around!

Teppen Edo - This is a typical hibachi type restaurant, the only problem I have with this place and I tell everyone that if you have a decent hibachi type place near you that you have been to, don't compare the 2. Teppen Edo is what I like to call "disneyfied" hibachi, lol. Once you have realized that though this place is a TON of fun and the food is actually really good. We went here in 2014 for the first time and my older son (he was 7 at the time) was actually quite disappointed bc the show wasn't what he was use to. We have a lot of hibachi places near us so he has been to a good amount of hibachi grills. Anyways he kept asking me where all the tricks were, but the chef told him he wasn't allowed to do them bc this was Disney. He was disappointed, but then he ate the food and like I said we thought the food was really good! It was so good that when we went back to disney in 2015, my older son (now 8) asked to go back to Teppen Edo. He didn't even care about the hibachi show he just loved the food.

Both places are really good and we like them both. You won't be disappointed with whichever choice you make though. They are both fun places to go!

We were gonna try GG but Dh does not like the food at GG so we went to Teppan Edo last week. Agree with StirlingSilver83 that Teppan Edo is just a disneyfied hibachi. The food is not bad. Your experience also depends on the chef you get. Some chefs might be fun and some might not be as fun. If you have been to a hibachi restaurant, then the experience you get from Teppan Edo will be just like that.

I have never been to GG but with the rotating restaurant and character, the entertainment aspect will definitely make your experience special. I am trying to convince DH to try GG next time... Just hope that GG will get fish on the menu again. That's the only thing DH will eat.

I know what we would choose, but I have no idea what kind of food you like, or the makeup of your group. We would choose Garden Grill, but we like what they serve there - for some reason we really like their salad, even though it's nothing really special, and we like the changing scenery during the meal, and my daughter is a huge Chip fan! We agree that Teppan Edo is overshadowed by other hibachi places, even Benihanas, for flavor, but yum yum sauce is always a hit, even at Disney :)

Last time I went to Garden Grill was many years ago, and my family never went back because we felt we could get the same food at home. Its comfort food really, or at least it was back then. If that's your thing, don't let that discourage you. Now, hibachi is just as common as a your regular hometown diner in many parts of the country so one could say you can get that at home too. But, Disney puts their own flair on it and that's what makes it more unique than your traditional sit down dinner service.
