I'm torn between making a reservation for either Chef Mickey's or the Garden Grill. I've never been to GG but have been to CM. I want to book a character meal, the price difference is only 1 dollar. But which place would you say has better quality and offers more time with the characters?

I have been to both twice and I really like them both.

Garden Grill seems quieter and both times there the characters made it around to our table at least twice. The characters appeared more subdued.

Chef Mickey's is more hyper. I can't think of a better term at the moment. The negative thing I have to say about CM is the characters don't seem to make all the way around to us.

So, it depends on the atmosphere you want.

Thanks, so far the more I think about it, the more I'm thinking Garden Grill. I already have a couple more "buffet" style character meals lined up, so now that I think about it, losing CM isn't much of a loss.

Both are nice, but our family loves Garden Grill. As the PP said it is much mellower. The characters often hang out at the table and fool around with you, etc instead of posing and signing quickly and then heading to the next table in a rush. It is also relaxing to have the meal brought to you (family style) rather than having to get up and head to the buffet.

All very true, but when I was a kid, CM epitomised Disney. Will it leave a better lasting memory?

I don't know. My kids have been to both Chef Mickeys and Garden Grill several times. Even as very little ones (they are now 9 and 11) they would talk excitedly about things that happened at Garden Grill throughout the year. They often totally forgot about Chef Mickey's from year to year and we would have to spend a while explaining "which one that was" when going over plans. So for them at least, Garden Grill is the perfect classic disney dining place. Other places they/we love to eat when not after characters are: Whispering Canyon Cafe and Teppanyaki (Japan). Maybe that tells you something about us???:confused3

there will be 20 of us at Chef Mickey's on Sept. 7th for my Bachlorette Party (yes including children) and I can't wait I have never been here before so I hope this is as good as everyone says it is!!

I will be at CM's for the first time on Sept 29th. My favorite Disney Character is Goofy and since there are not many options on where he can be found we planned breakfast here and at Cape May Cafe. Its going to be me and me dd (14). we can have fun anywhere we go and just being together at disney is all the magic we need

I'd give my vote to Garden Grill. It's a much calmer atmosphere than Chef Mickey's. I've gotten better Character Interaction at this meal than any other. I also think the food is better than CM's.

Chef Mickey's was fun too I just like GG better. :)

We actually like both. In our experience, you get more character interaction at GG. It is way more subdued too. I also love the fact that the food comes to you. With three young kids, I have to make 2-3 trips to a buffet before I can sit down to eat and I am the one getting to do all the extra trips. I don't bring my kids to the buffet line, having been in the business for years; I don't think the 5 and under set should go to a buffet. It's scary what kids that age can do. I digress... You will get more food options with CM.

The big thing will be what type of atmosphere do you want? We start every trip by having dinner at CM. It's a requirement. It fits the bill perfectly when we've just gotten in a few hours before. We do not do GG every trip, but it's nice for lunch (our preference) or dinner during a busy day. It provides a nice dose of downtime.

Been to both. Liked atmosphere at Garden grill better but liked food better at Chef Mickeys and character interaction was much better for us at Chef Mickey's too.
