Garden Grill?? I can't seem to find any reviews!

I have a GG ressie. I was wondering since its not a get up buffet, and you have a child with you, do they bring the childrens choices to your table with adult? Or are there no kids choices like the other restaurants?

I hope that made a bit of sense:laughing:

They bring the kids' meal to the table - it's not that great though. Yucky dried out chicken fingers and fries. We only got this meal 1x, and then shared our food with our daughter, as I have allergies and can't eat some of the food selections anyway.

Good luck, Tiger

Our experience?

- great character interaction
- poor seating for large parties (no ability to have conversation)
- food didn't stay hot
- good food (while hot)

This is one of my favorite meals and is a MUST do for me each trip. Their flank steak isn't too great but who has great flank steak anyway? The turkey and stuffing and veggies are awesome! I don't eat catfish but everyone I've been with it loves the catfish.

The characters here are great too.

Personally, I love it. Chip and Dale are my favorite characters and the interaction with them is priceless. The food is family style, as stated above, and I find it pretty good. Not spectacular, but definitely doesn't deserve some of the negative reviews it gets imho. It's more relaxed than most and I like how it spins. It's just part of the whole magic for me.

For those that have been there recently, what are they serving as dessert? Last time we were there it was an apple pie sorta thing. I loved it, my only complaint is that I wish they served it with ice cream..lol ;)
The menu on this site says berry puff pastry? Can anyone confirm?

Thanks.

we went there....umm....Dec 15th?

When we went there in past years, it was an apple crisp (I think w/ ice cream)....but then this time, it was apple bread pudding (I thought w/ ice cream as well)......I was very saddened....I loved the crisp, not so much the bread pudding.....we did eat the ice cream though!

We are going for Chip and Dale since those are the characters our daughter wants to see most! I can't wait to try it out!

We have been to the Garden Grille several times and it is usually an 'ok' experience. It's a great way for the kids to interact with the characters and the meal usually provides something for everyone to eat. However, our last visit, which was Dec 20th, was a great disappointment. First off, the mechanism that turns the restaurant was broken, so the room stayed stationary. We were told it had been out of commission for two days. The characters did not make as many visits as usual. They were there, but just not enough. The food was ok as usual but the server seemed to have a little attitude. I would say she was having a rough day, but we were one of the first tables seated for dinner. And on top of all this, we discovered that the price had gone up considerably. Disney has implemented a new "higher price during peak times" at several of their better restaurants. For our large party, this came to a significant increase. I still love dining at WDW but I think we will move on from the Garden Grille.

I agree with the others that the food is just ok. Not bad, not great. The character interaction was top notch though, and that's more important to us than the food, at least for character meals. DS had just gotten a new Dinoco (from Cars) helicopter, and was playing with it and his cars when Mickey showed up. Mickey stayed and played cars with him for several minutes, much to DS's extreme delight. :lovestruc I took tons of pics. At the other character meals we did, the character visits were so brief and chaotic, but this was the exact opposite.

Our server was excellent too, and the quiet atmosphere of the place was a nice change.

We love Garden Grill. It's a must do for us. It's our favorite character meal. We love the atmosphere and the characters are top notch. We get the best interaction there and the characters usually visit our table several times. The food is pretty good, not bad at all. We have had the berry puff pastry, but on our last visit in November it was the apple bread pudding.

oh, and we asked our waitress about the dessert and she "said" that they like to mix it up, and change every 3-4 months.....but I dunno.....

Anyone know if the restaurant is turning again (have they fixed it?) or if it's still stationary?

Goodness, I hope it still isn't broken. We were there December 12 and it was broken then. It was still fun to eat there but I really wanted my husband to see how it rotated.

The rotation is so slow, it's barely noticeable. You don't even realize it until you lift up your head after 15 minutes and say, "Oh - that's not where we started."

bump- anyone know about the rotation? :)

HAD DINNER THERE IN DECEMBER AND IT WAS GREAT SECOND VISIT HERE AND REALLY WASNT HIGH ON MY LIST TO DO A SECOND TIME AS THE FIRST TIME I WASNT ALL THAT IMPRESSED BUT THIS TIME AROUND I LOVED IT. FOOD WAS VERY GOOD AND THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT CHARACTERS SPENT LOTS OF TIME AT YOUR TABLE AND MANAGED TO COME BACK 2 OR 3 TIMES. WE HAD A 530 RESERVATION AND IT REALLY WASNT BUSY AT ALL WHICH REALLY SURPRISED ME, IT WAS ROTATING SO I GUESS WE LUCKED OUT THAT IT WASNT BROKEN. WOULD GO BACK AGAIN NO PROBLEM, ANOTHER PLACE WAS 9 DRAGONS THAT SURPRISED ME THIS WAS ALSO A SECOND TIME WITH THE FIRST JUST OKAY, SECOND TIME IT WAS GREAT AS WELL WILL ADD IT TO MY GO BACK LIST TOO:woohoo:

We love GG and have eatern there multiple times. DS4 loves the rotating of the restuarant. The character interaction has always been great, we often meet all of the characters more than once. DH and I both love the catfish and the flank steak. I love the potato casserole. The last time we ate there, they had the apple crisp dessert which everyone loved (but me - I don't like cooked fruit). We are planning to eat there on our upcoming visit in May.

I saw in your post on this thread that Mickey brought the cake out for your DD birthday. We will be there in May for our DS 6th birthday. Did you order your cake from Garden Grill or through the cake hotline? Thanks!
