Help! My sil wants all 11 of us to go there in Feb; four adults, seven kids, and I think it sounds cute, (ate there years ago) but wonder. Any other places you'd suggest for our whole group? Already have CM, Crystal Palace, and some others. Thanks!

Oh, and it's for dinner. :)

:cloud9:

WE ate at GArden Grill in March of '07. It was my DD's birthday dinner. It was ok. it was family style. DH loved the catfish and the steak they had. I went more for the turkey. The sides were decient, and the dessert was good. My DD had chicken strips and fries. She seemed to enjoy the characters. There was Mickey in Coveralls, Chip, Dale, and Pluto. They came around MANY MANY times and stopped to take pics with us as much as we wanted them too. Also being DD's bday they had her bday cake brought out by mickey!!! I also loved how the restaruant revolves around the land pavillion. it is amazing to see all that stuff while stuffing your face...

Hope this helps. Its good, and there is plenty of room for the amount in your group. You'll have a good time....

Good Luck.

The food is served family style and is just OK. The characters are very, very good. We just ate there in November because we wanted pictures with Mickey and Chip and Dale for our grand sons. It was worth it for us to do it that way. All-in it's a pretty good place to eat.

THis is our favorite character meal. THe food is great.. especially the potatoe casserole.. ITs usually one fo the lesser crowded ones too.

Oh, and it's for dinner:

F.Y.I., GG is only open for dinner now they discontinued lunch there. :)

We had a great time there in June. Food was pretty good. Everyone enjoyed the catfish and the sides. We don't go to character meals for the food anyway. Chip and Dale are my DD6's favorites, so it is a must do for us.

We find this character meal much less hectic than the others, and we had the best character interaction we have ever had there. :)

We ate there in September. We were a family of 4 on the DxDP. Food just OK. Platter size rather small, although you can get as much as you want. The food was lukewarm at best. Service frightfully slow. Lunch took forever. Great character interaction. Waitress not so great. Along with being slow, she was the only wait person all week that asked us why hadn't we filled in the tip on the bill and did we want to charge it to our room (we paid cash for tips all week). We are not eating there on our next trip.

My family and I ate there in Sept. We thought it would've been much better than it was.The service was slow, the waitress was about as available as "The Invisible Man" :rolleyes1 ;the food was just ok,with the exception of the catfish, which was extremely peppery-TERRIBLE!!!The veggies and potatoes were good,as was the character interaction. If you want good veggies and potatoes and characters, this is your place!!:confused3 As for us,we'll be avoiding this place from now on.

I really like GG, we always do it for our CP package (3 years at least)....we LOVE the catfish.....sad that we didn't get the dessert we LOVE, the apple crisp, but I would go back, as we always do.......and yeah, we got the characters MULTIPLE times haha

We thought the food was fantastic ~ but there isn't a lot of space. I don't know where they would put a party of 11 to be honest!

1900 Park Fare is really good too!

We ate there last trip and had a party of 11 as well. They put us at a long large table on the upper level. We prefer the lower level but at least we all got to sit together. We enjoyed it. The food was good.

We ate there last year. While the food was just ok we had a great time with the characters. They came around so many times that my kids even lost interest. It was also a very peaceful meal. We were at an outside booth and couldn't really hear or see anyone else. That was a nice change. I'm not sure we would chose this meal again though.

I thought it was great! My 2 DD are not big Chip & Dale fans. They think Pluto is okay. Of course, they love Mickey. The place is great because it rotates. You overlook part of "The Land" Ride so you may want to ride "The Land" prior to having dinner. We had lots of time with the characters. Mickey was very cute in his overalls. As for the food, the catfish was great. We enjoyed the turkey but not the fruit compote that is on top of it. The steak is edible. The sides are pretty good, too. The dessert was great. Keep in mind I compare the characte meals with one another. None of them are five star but you have to compare apples to apples. I believe it can seat 11 comfortable. We were on the second level. Next to our table of 4 there was a table of 8 seat behind us with plenty of room for them and for people on the other side of them. I hope you enjoy this as much as we did. This was a great day at Epcot in October!

If you're going to see characters, I would highly recommend GG. I'd get a snack before the meal though. Absolutely the worst meal we've ever had at WDW.

From reading PPs, maybe there was a problem in Sept 08. There are a couple bad reviews from that time period we were there. I won't be giving it a second chance though.

1900 Park Fare is really good too!

We did a party of 10 there in 9/2007 and they were able to accomodate us just fine, all at one table.

But, I agree with pp here - 1900 Park blew GG out of the water for us (in ALL aspects, food and character interaction).

Our experience at GG was . . . meh. Not horrible, but nothing to write home about (in terms of food or characters). It was alright, but we won't do it again. If you want the 'traditional' characters (vs. princess at 1900), I'd consider Chef Mickey's instead, JMO.

GG used to be one of our favs and so we've been going for years - lunch and dinner. On our last few trips though, we have noticed a terrible decline in quality, service and character interaction. So much so, that it's off our list now. On our trip in May, the food was horrid, character interaction was all confused and Mickey missed our table and the service was awful.

As mentioned, GG is only serving dinner now, and sadly, it won't be missed by us.

Happy eating, Tiger :)

We have only good things to sat regarding GG. We have gone 2 years in a row, and always had a great expereince. Characters are great and the food is good. This last trip we skipped GG and tried some other restaurants including 1900 PF, and we found this also to be good. We won't be returning next trip because we decided that family-style meals are easier for us. Between getting food at the buffet and timing the characters, it gets stressful, especially with a 3 and 4 year old.

We went for lunch last year and it was great. The character interaction was wonderful and the food was a definite step up from the typical character meal. :thumbsup2

I have a GG ressie. I was wondering since its not a get up buffet, and you have a child with you, do they bring the childrens choices to your table with adult? Or are there no kids choices like the other restaurants?

I hope that made a bit of sense:laughing:
