I am thinking about booking garden grill for dinner on our first night - any reviews on this place?

I ate there with my sons in May 2010 and I thought it was really good. It was nice to have the food served family-style instead of making quick runs to the buffet line so as not to miss the characters coming around. The character interaction was great with Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale. I enjoyed the meal very much and would like to go back!

thank you so much, i was wondering how that works, so its not like a buffet, do they just bring the food to your table?

Food ok but characters great...May be the best interaction with the
characters we ever had...My little girl loves Chip and Dale and they kept
coming back, brought her presents, and helped her ice her cupcake!

We discovered Garden Grill on our last trip and fell in love with it.

Great setting! Yummy food!! Fantastic character interaction!!!

We'll be eating there again in a few weeks. :lovestruc

We LOVED GG!! We are going back. We had our favorite server there, and loved the characters. Plus the scenary is way cool. You actually do make about one revolution around by the time your done eating. Anything more you want to eat, its right there. LOVE this place!

Loved the character interaction. The food was good. Two things make this place stand out for us. You can get good photos of your family with characters without any other families in your photo. You get to sit down the whole meal, except for pictures. So, no worrying about spending all your time running up to the buffet and not having a lot of time to eat.

Yep! Our server brought a big bowl of salad, which was delicious and fresh with veggies from the garden there at The Land. Then he brought a plate of 3 meats with accompaniaments: turkey with dressing, fish, roast with mashed potatoes. The kids' meal was baked chicken drumsticks with sweet potato fries (delicious!) and mac & cheese. You get as much of the entrees as you want - just ask and they'll bring you more. The kids got ice cream with Oreos as Mickey's ears for dessert, and I had a strawberry/rhubarb crumble. I have to say I liked my meal more than my kids liked theirs, but my kids are weird ones that don't like mac & cheese!

I didn't expect much from this one and we all really enjoyed it!
The wait to get in was very very long ( about an hour with an ADR) but once we were seated it was a lot of fun!:)

I was there for dinner last week and it was the best sit down meal of our whole trip, CRT included. My kids loved the characters. It was very laid back, the characters came over repeatedly. Cool revolving floor and relaxed atmosphere brought out big smiles for our kids. :)

Best waiter on our whole trip! Luis brought my daughter a card signed by all the characters because we had noted a celebration on our reservation. (It wasn't a big deal...she just started kindergarten and we put that on every ADR, and Garden Grill was the only one that did anything special) Sweet surprise for her. Luis also brought out a different dish for my picky 10 yr old. Super nice.:goodvibes

Short wait for us...just 5 minutes, but our ADR was for 4:30 (Sunday, Sept. 18th) which is early, plus Sept is off season. Great food too.

Is the kid's meal served family style or is it pre-plated?

My next question is about the steak-I've heard different things, does anyone know if it's flank steak?

I'm picky and flank steak is the only steak I don't like (I don't count salsbury steak as a steak).

I do have to say that GG was one of our favorite meals when we were there in 2008 (I know, it was a long time ago)... But the character interaction was amazing, they just kept coming back again and again.

We were a party of 8, and by the time we finished our meal, we had done more than 2 rotations around the restaurant. The food was great - much better than we had inticipated, and for our upcoming trip - it was a must do restaurant for us. We loved having the characters to ourselves.

A few pics of the characters/food... and our faces after the meal... LOL

We really liked Garden Grill. We were able to snare last minute ADR's and were glad we did. The character interaction was very good. They spent time with the kids and as others have mentioned, because it's not a buffet, you don't feel the pressure that you are going to miss a character if you are at the buffet.

Plus, the kids really enjoyed that we were essentially inside a ride, Living with the Land, going around in a circle so we could see the ride. I thought it was kinda fun as well. (I remember eating here when it was the Kraft restaurant, which brought back good memories.)

The last thing I'll say is the the fast was great. I had concerns since the food was brought out family style, but it was very, very tasty. I thought the vegetables were very fresh, and our waitress told us that some of them come from the farm right below. I don't know if that is true, but I'll believe it since I was really impressed by how fresh all the food was.

I would absolutely recommend going.

any pictures of the meat at GG or a link if you remember where it was posted?
thanks

Hands down one of our best character experiences. The food was great! Lots to eat and lots of veggies (which I love....) The flank steak rocked!

The rotation of the restaurant is so very subtle but changes your view. What a great plus.... Love it at GG and hope you do, too.

We've eaten there twice and had very different experiences. The first time was FABULOUS. Yummy food - super characters...so we went back. Second time the food was awful, brought a tiny amount, and the characters weren't that great w/ interacting. We were so disappointed. Haven't wanted to try it since then.

Oh yes, and this was the restaurant we had the crappiest service ever. Our waitress opened the thing to see how much of a tip we gave her and literally rolled her eyes when she saw we didn't leave the "recommended" 18%. Sorry, crappy service doesn't equate to an EXPECTED tip of that size.
