I have a 30% code for the Gap outlet. I have never been and the closest one is about 2 hours away. My oldest son has asked for clothes for Christmas. Is the trip worth it? What kind of selection do they usually have and are the prices worth the trip?

We went to the Gap outlet last night. Huge sales going on. I think it is definately worth the trip. (Of couse mine is only 30 minutes away.)

The closest one to me is in Foley, AL. It's never been worth the trip for me. If the 30% is off the entire purchase it may be especially if they are having a sale. Their regular "outlet" prices are better than the mall, but not worth a 30 minute drive to me. The old navy outlet used to be but now they've made it just like the store at the mall.

Is it the Friends and Family coupon for this weekend? I don't think it's worth the drive, because they usually bump up the prices or take off less percentages during the Friends and Family sale. I would just go to the Gap or Old Navy during the sale of you have one close to you.

Yes it is the friends and family sale. I will probably just go to the local Gap. It sounds like the outlet could be questionable and that's a long drive.

I don't think it would be worth the drive, as PP said, you can probably find just as good of deals at the regular Gap.

Our Gap outlet changed recently to a slightly different name (can't remember now...) and it seems to have totally different merchandise, and the quality is horrible! Any one else notice this?

I noticed they have a lot of good staples, but our big savings there is with the jeans and pants. For whatever reasons, Gap's just fit DH far better than other brands do. The jeans are usually about $30 at the outlet vs. $54 in the store. Add onto that the 30% off coupon, and he'll buy several pairs at one for a very good savings. But unless you're loyal to a certain type of their clothing, I don't see driving 2 hours on a "might like it."

I agree with what the others have said. Its not worth it. To me the outlet can be hit or miss. With it being friends and family weekend you would have better luck at the regular store.

I haven't found it to be much better than the sale section at the regular GAP. For instance, when they have an extra percentage off the sale section, I've gotten much cheaper clothing for dd and myself at the retail GAP than at the outlet. If you're in the area anyway, it's worth going to, but not so much if you have to go out of your way to get there.

I was just at a gap outlet this past weekend and was disappointed in the selection. Most of the stuff is not extra inventory from regular gap but stuff that is ordered just for gap outlet.

I love the Gap Outlet, but we live within a 45 minute to an hour ride from three different Gap Outlets. I got fleece jackets in really cute colors for $13 a piece (Hot Pink and Pale Pink) and a really cute hot pink down vest for $20.
They always have really cute kids clothes as well.
