Yesterday, my son knocked the xbox over (yes, I tell them not to stand it up all the time, but....) and scratched his call of duty black ops game. I know that game stop buys back scratched discs, but at a reduced rate. I sent my husband and him over to game stop and without question (no receipt or anything) the guy said "here is a free one, but we can only do this once". My son was sooo happy he didn't have to spend his christmas money on a replacement. It was a nice surprise!

How wonderful! Sounds like you should buy ALL of your games from them from now on! :cool1:

Yay! How nice for your son!!

Do you guys buy the warranty for each game? For an extra $3 or $5 (can't remember which it is) we always get the warranty for each XBox game DS12 gets. DS is very hard on his games & supposedly we can return one for a new game if DS breaks it.

No, we never bought the warranty. But we really should!!!! Does gamestop offer it? they never tried to sell it to us.

So here is a solution if you ever get desperate. You have to have the disk to play but you can store games on your XBOX hard drive. You can't store all your game though, they just will not fit.

DS scratched his black ops game as well. He borrowed his friends disc and downloaded it onto his hard drive, inserted his scratched disc and all is good!

If you do not have a friend to borrow from you can rent the game and download it also.

Remember you cannot download a game a play it unless you actually have the disc IN the console when you play! Sooo I am NOT suggesting something illegal!

Yes, we get the warranty for every XBox game we buy. They don't usually offer it....we usually say at check-out to please add the warranty.

We just got a new 250gb xbox for Christmas and that's what DH has been doing as we open a new game -- store it on the hard drive. You still have to have the disc to run it, but it will still work if it gets a scratch. Well worth paying for the 250gb when you figure how much it costs to replace a game.
