Galveston Port Questions

We are flying in to IAH and taking car service to the Doubletree on Seawall. I'm wondering if there are any stores around there within walking distance, or short cab ride? We would like to pick up a bottle of wine & 6 pack of beer and maybe some toiletries.

I would like to know as well. We are flying into IAH and also taking a car service but staying at the Hilton on Seawall. I have read that there are many restaurants within walking distance of the Hilton but not sure about other stores. We will be there for 2 nights (though the first night we won't get in until very late) so I rented a car for the day before the cruise just so we had some transportation in case there were no stores close by. We are a group of 8 so I figured a minivan would work for the day. I rented through Enterprise.

I would suggest checking an online map and/or calling the hotels.

remember enterprise will charge you a $100 drop off fee AND they will NOT take you to the port. You have to arrange your own transport between enterprise and the port.

if you are taking a car service ( like supershuttle exeuc car) they should be willing to stop for you along the way

We stayed at the Hilton last Friday. There are plenty of restaurants. Rainforest and Landrys are both right next door. There is also a Walmart that is less than a mile away.

I am just renting it for the day from the Galveston location. It was $80 total with tax for a minivan. I am going to keep checking prices. I will take a cab from our hotel to the rental place. Will take our hotel shuttle to the port.

Walgreens and CVS are usually closer and faster, though not likely walking distance. They are great for snacks, drinks and wine, depending on your standards .
