"Galentine's Day"

I know you said you get it, but I'm not really sure based on your comments. It's from a TV show. It wasn't created "to sell more stuff" or because people feel lonely due to social media. It was created as a joke on a comedy show. It has a funny name and extravagant celebration because that's the personality of the character on the show. She celebrates all sorts of random, ridiculous things with over-the-top gifts. She invents "holidays" all throughout the show (Ann Day, Ben Day, Red Shoe Day, Butt Day, etc) There are two other characters who celebrate "Treat Yo Self" day. That holiday revolves around oneself, whereas all the "holidays" Leslie celebrates are about focusing on other people.
Thanks for reminding me why I love “Parks and Rec” so much. DD and I binge-watched the entire series at the beginning of the pandemic. It seems like a million years ago now.

If any of you are looking for a new show to binge, Parks & Rec is a good one!

Agreed! For those who haven't watched it before, it's streaming on the Peacock app (NBC's newish streaming service). The first two seasons are available without a premium subscription. So that includes the first of the three Galentine's Day episodes, but it's a great show and is worth watching from the beginning!

More may be free on a case-by-case basis, depending on location and other streaming services you have.

My friends (6 of us) and I are all in our 30s, all either married or in long term relationships, and are celebrating tomorrow! We are each bringing some sparkling wine and snacks to a local park and sitting 6 ft away from one another on blankets and enjoying a Galentines day picnic!!! So excited. Then, on Sunday, my husband and I are celebrating Valentines day on the patio of one of our favorite restaurants. It feels quite nice to have such an enjoyable weekend to look forward to given the state of the last year.

Not necessarily Galentines Day but I feel like I've seen more advertising for Valentines Day in general this year.

I was wondering what the stores are going to do with all those school Valentine sets and class sets of treats no one is buying. All our schools are still distance learning in my area. What a waste.

I haven't been in the V-Day aisle, I wondered if they were selling these this year. I hope they limited what they produced/sold this year.
