Feel free to move if this is wrong thread. Our 180 ADR date is tomorrow! We will be going September 6-11. Has anyone had any experience in trying to get good ADR's during an opening in a park-even at other parks? We had our choices lined up, with Hollywood and Vine in HS as near noon as possible the 7th. Never been a hot ticket before but probably will be that day. We also have or hearts set on Storybook Dining, even as early as 4 on the 8th. The others, Garden Grill on the 9th and Tusker House on the 10th have also not been super hard to get-wondering if I need a back up plan. Four of us are planning on using the "divide and conquer" method on the website.

My only advice is to also have a device with the MDE app ready....if the website isn't working or is working slowly, the app may be better.

I read a report of someone booking adr’s today and having no problem at all.

I booked my ADR's today with no problems. However the only hard one I had to get was Ohana and booked that at the end of my vacation. You may have to rethink your plans and work from the last day back to get the ones you really want. DS is going in August and was only able to book Storybook dining on his last day and the only decent time was 4:15.

Good luck. If you don't get the times you want keep checking as people cancel all of the time.

I just checked to get an idea on how our ADRs will go (I can’t book till 4/1). Every restaurant we’re looking for (which is a lot, we do Deluxe Dining) has some sort of availability. Even HS has availability for 180 days from today and I did not expect that for sure. We already plan for hard to get reservations at the end of our trip so this is encouraging.

We are doing Deluxe Dining as well. I surely am glad since this may be the highlight of our trip! Reasonable crowds and we get to meet characters at some, and just soak up the ambiance at others! I am hoping SWGE crew isn't as into character meals and kid experiences as we will be with young grands!

That’s what I’m hoping, that Star Wars fans are mostly adults and not so concerned with dining and meeting characters, plus being a month into school and still hurricane season...maybe it won’t be so bad.

I had no problems with booking restaurants like 50's Prime Time, Be Our Guest and California Grill at firework time and even got Chef's Table at Victoria & Albert's today. Only problems became Homecomin' and Tutto Italia for some reason so I had to switch them around a bit. Our second window is opening in ten days and have to get a lunch reservation at Hollywood Brown Derby then, so I'm wondering how that is going to be.

OP here-we managed to get every ADR we wanted with the exception of Garden Grill early breakfast. The earliest they had was nine am. But we did get Akurshus at 815. They didn't have Garden Grill evening ones either-guess since it is a smaller restaurant. We got Fantasmic Dining Package and Rivers of Light Dining Package at noon, Chefs de France at 5pm, and Storybook Dining at Artist Pont at 430 -all on the days we wanted. Happy Dance! Now here's hoping the same works out when it's time to book fast passes!

I booked my dining the day Star Wars was announced ( and after it was ) no issues whatsoever including dining in Hollywood studios

I'm guessing the real test will be in the next few weeks as more ADR dates become available and the Star Wars people have had time to make their plans. It was not announced until after ADRs had been available for booking the day it was - and even the most rabid fan would have needed a little while to make plans/secure vacation.

If it makes you feel better, I made our adrs the night before throughout our trip a couple of weeks ago and there were openings for Storybook dining for our party of 7 available each evening when I was booking for the following day. We could have gone there any evening during the week. I was basically able to find adrs for almost any restaurant the evening before, lots of people cancel and move their plans around the day before to avoid the no-show fee.

I’m not going until December, but I’ve been wondering about GE & ADRs. If you want to see Star Wars land, no fastpasses, no idea how long you will be waiting online, how do you even plan for ADRs? :confused3 I wouldn’t want to wait for hours, then have to leave to make an ADR. Or for other FPs for that matter. But at least if you choose to skip a FO, there is no cancellation fee like there is for ADRs.

I think if you choose to wait in line for one of the Star Wars rides, that will be a big part of your day (until FPs become available). I don't think wait times of 4-6 hours will be unusual unless they close the line. There were reports of FoP having a 6 hour wait not too long ago.

FYI - This morning I was able to book a CRT dinner and GG PPO breakfast (among other less difficult ADR's) for 09/17 and 09/09 respectively with no problems, and I even got the times I wanted. Hopefully it's a sign that the Star Wars fans will stick to HS instead of glomming up my vacation everywhere else? Maybe?

May I ask how many days in you booked them for? Those are both on my list for end of Sept/early Oct!

I got lucky and my 180 day mark was the day of the announcement. So have a 6pm Sci Fi Dinner reservation on Sept. 4 and an 8am Hollywood and Vine on the 7th. Also got all my other reservations that I wanted and when I checked later in the day was able to change one to a more preferable time, guessing it was due to all the people who freaked out and dropped their vacation plans.

If I'm understanding you correctly, my 180 days was today and I booked them successfully for 09/17 and 09/09. Hope this helps!
Sorry my wording is confusing - your 180 days from today is 9/7 right? So Garden Grill was at 180 + 2 and CRT 180+10? But thank you for responding!

We went back this afternoon and were able to get GG for dinner, but we had to split our party of seven into two parties of 4 and 3, so that means we got everything we wanted for September 6-12.
