We went last night and it was just so-so. For what I paid, even with the AP discount, it wasn't worth it.
We got there around 6 with the intention of eating before it started. They were handing the pass to everyone that walked through the tapstiles at that point. I don't know if they had it set up so that only people with party tickets got the green Mickey, but if not they weren't doing any checking. If it was only people with tickets, it was a grossly oversold event.
At 6, the lines for popcorn/pretzel carts were ridiculous because of the AT-AT bucket. I just wanted a pretzel because I was shaking hungry, and we had to get out of line and go to Starbucks instead. Bright side, practically no line there.
The stage show was the same one you can see all the time, as were the fireworks. Lines for characters that are out any day were at least 20 minutes all night, and special characters (which they were very few of) were 50+. They had some special photo backdrops (just backdrops, not characters) set up throughout the park and the lines for those were crazy long all night.
Someone decided it would be a good idea to have both the droids and the Ewoks out as "free roaming" with no lines. You can imagine what that was like.
We had an ok time, but definitely would not consider doing it again. On the way home this morning we both remarked that for a Star Wars themed event, there wasn't that much extra Star Wars stuff.
The Good:
Walked onto ToT twice, TSMM twice, RNRC once, could have ridden them more easily.
Walked right into the Galaxy's Edge panel and got good seats.
Got a cool Christmas ornament with proof of our Last Jedi movie ticket purchase. Very nice one, too.
Met an Ewok!
The Bad:
Far too many people. In some areas it felt worse than a regular park day.
The "special" food didn't seem to have much, if anything, to do with SW. It was just random overpriced food.
Really bad set-up for the Ewoks...like, REALLY bad.
The music in the area by ToT was INSANELY loud. We had to shout and could still barely hear each other.
There really wasn't that much "extra" for the event. It was more like extended park hours with some vaguely Star Wars themed stuff tossed in.
