Gail's Journal (comments welcome)

I've resisted again today. It's hard...but I'm looking toward my Saturday weigh in!

 Excellent job resisting temptation when you're bored!! That is a weakness of mine!!

Well..I made it to Curves today...kids finally had school...our schools seem to close at the threat of snow. We have a lot of teachers from PA that teach here...and they crack up at the little amounts of snow that they close for.

Anyway...I feel like I'm spending all my time running the roads now. My parents only have 1 computer..so between me DH and Dkids..we're all trying to get on. So, I promise to get to journals eventually and catch up on everyone!

Food is still going good..water good..exercise good. I did hop on my scale this morning when I stopped by my house briefly...and I was up 3 lbs. I was mortified! What in the world?? I'm not going to let it get me down! My weigh in day is Saturday...so...I'll see how it goes from there! Looking for a flush! Today is the first day of March! To be out of those cold months and looking toward warmer days :earboy2:

Hey Gail - I'm sure it's all just water, so good luck on the "flushing" I'm with you on that, so as I guzzle more water, I'll be thinking of you ;)

Good job on keeping OP

Hi Gail,

Thank you for your post in my journal. Here is some information that you requested on eBay:

Last year, I was able to pay for about 50-60% of our trip with eBay money. The rest of the money came from side jobs that my DH did and from garage sales I had. (I had 5 garage sales last year! :earseek: ) Now, some of the money was used for unexpected bills, but those three things combined (eBay, DH's side jobs, and garage sales) helped us get to WDW last year.

As for what I sell... it varies a lot... I have sold some children's clothes, books, games, videos, DVDs, CDs, Disney stuff, satellite stuff (DH used to install satellites.), vintage postcards, e.t.c. What I do is go through my house every few months and see if there is anything we don't use that I can put on eBay. I put some things up for auction and see what happens. I would say that about 50%-75% of the items I have listed sold. If they don't sell, I try selling at my garage sales.

I also go to other garage sales and scope out eBay items as well. For example, I bought an electronic game (can't remember the name off hand) for $1.00 at a garage sale. It had the box (not in good condition) and the instructions and the game was in mint condition. I turned around and sold it on eBay for $19! Pretty good profit I must say. :teeth: I have had some luck at doing this. It's actually fun for me to go to garage sales and see what I can find. I have found some excellent deals this way! I also go to church sales and the Goodwill store. (One just opened up about 5 miles from my house. )

Sometimes, my items only sell for a couple of dollars and while that can be discouraging, I realize that it will pay for a Mickey bar or two at WDW. :mickeybar For me, it's kind of fun shopping around to see what deals I can get and then see what kind of money I can make on eBay. I think part of the reason that I am not as motivated to sell right now is because garage sale season has not started here yet and although I have some items to list and sell, I need to replenish my stock. Plus, I don't have my WDW trip set in stone yet and I want a specific goal (dollar amount) to shoot for.

Sorry to have taken over your journal with my answer. Please feel free to ask any questions about eBay that you may have. I'm certainly not an expert, but I will try and help you out if I can.

Have a great evening Gail! Keep up the good work! :cheer2:

Okay...today is the 1st of March and even though I've lost 16.5 lbs since Jan. 1, I decided that I want to join Weight Watchers. I mentioned this when I first re-committed! Well...since I've joined Curves and that is costing me $29 per month..which I still love..I don't think I can afford $15 a week to join WW meetings. For about $70, I can join online for 3 months. I'm going to join tomorrow when I'm at my home computer so I can bookmark everything there. If anyone can offer any advice...I sure would appreciate it!

Hi Gail,

You are doing amazing!!! 16.5 pounds since January shows true determination. Curves is a great place. I liked it there when I was going. Joining WW online seems like a reaaly good idea. It offers a flexibility that the meetings don't. Erin, Tera, and Sunny have had success with WW,off the top of my head. I know there are more, but you might want to check with them. Keep up the great work.

Have a great evening,
Beth

Gail--

I do WW Online!! I absolutely love it!! The discussion boards have really great tips & recipes. The online journaling is the best, very easy & not very time consuming. You can also add your own recipes into the food selections, if there is something that you make on a frequent basis or if you eat at a restaurant that is not in the database...I use www.dwlz.com (Dottie's) for most of my restaurant listings.

WW also posts articles on nutrition, exercise, more recipes, etc. I have a WW Online buddy here at work, so we keep each other in line 90% of the time.

If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me...I'd be glad to help!

Have a super day!

I'm officially a member of Weight Watchers online!!

Thanks Tracy! I'm sure I will be asking a ton of questions!

Hi Gail,

Your Jan to March weight loss is phenomenal! You should be very proud of yourself.

My Mom does OL WW and loves it. And our very own Kim Raye made goal doing WW OL so ya know its gotta be good ::yes:: I know you will reach goal no problem :cheer2:

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: sending the wooosh fairy your way for a flush :rotfl:

Sunny

Thanks! Today is my 2nd day of WW. I also joined a March challenge at Curves...it's actually a food drive...but they are giving a t-shirt if you lose 5 lbs or 5 inches in March. So I signed up for that.

I tell you...I love these boards...I was lurking on the WW message boards and they seem kind of rough over there. It seems like more of a competition on the WW boards. I feel much safer here!

Have a great day!

Gail I liked WW online and it worked! I'm thinking about doing it again. I have a question about Curves? It is 29/mo? How often do you get to go? Is there a fee up front?

Thanks
Kel

Hey Kellee...I think that there is some type of promotion going on right now that if you bring a bag of food they will waive the sign up fee...call to check at your local curves. Mention this. I will check again at my curves tomorrow.

But as for me...the fee is normally 150...but when I signed up they gave a 66% discount...they always have some specials...but you pay a sign up fee...then it's 29 a month if you sign up for a year, or 39 a month if it's month to month. Like I said..I will check on the food thing...I think it's nationwide this month for bringing food to waive the sign up fee.

I really do enjoy it...and it's only 30 minutes! Let me know if you join! and let me know if you go back to WW online!

Gail

Good Luck to you with Curves! I bet you are going to really lose those inches now!!! :cool1:

Happy Friday! :flower:

Hey Gail - Congratulations on joining WW, I'm sure you will succeed even more now. WW provides so much information, online or at the meetings, but if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. If you have a sweet tooth, WW has little snack cakes (carrot and chocolate) that you can find at Super Walmarts. I LOVE them

Hi, Gail! Glad to see you decided to join WW online. If you remember that is what I was doing too right before I found out I was preg. I really liked it and will probably go back on it after Kylie is born. Another benefit was that Scott actually liked it and was able to do it too. Really makes it easier w/the extra support.

Btw, I have not had time to go back and read all of your journal, but how is Amanda doing lately? Well, good luck and I hope you have a great weekend!
