Gail Hayden, I'm in need of some advice.

how about an able bodied "individual" who seemed to have found or scammed a "blue" sleeve....

he was even seen talking to the gate agent ( presumably asking if he could use it )

he then proceeded down the "jetway" when there was no gate agent there ( presumbaly so there would be no scene )

he was on the plane sitting in the aisle seat waiting for his buddies who were in the C group to get on.....

my feeling he really wanted to get the exit row but there was a "travel" through person still on the plane when he got on so he had to sit in a row above it

this was in las vegas

this was clearly an abuse of the boarding process which the one gate agent knew about but somehow did not curtail...

as a previous poster stated, getting there early to get a good Pass and seat should not be diminished by this sort of action...

one thing with las vegas there were not a lot of "pre boards" per say....but that "one" did irk a few people in line who had gotten to the airport early

I rarely read those ways to beat the system there, and it seems to be about that, BUT, they do post the codes and that is what I am looking for. Cheating the system, no way, no me, never.
I am a firm believer in what goes around comes around.

In all honesty, I am packing to move, we sold our house, we have to be out by the 19th of this month (what was I thinking) and our purchase of another abode seems to be somewhat far off. I am a bit stressed. sorry if I forgot about that web site, but, unfortunately, I have other things on my mind right now.

Just wanted to throw out there that any child in a carseat has to be in the window seat. If your daughter is in a child seat, she needs to be in the window seat too, so your two together plan works well. I am soooo pleased that you are going to have your son in his carseat on the plane. No amount of savings is worth the risk in my humble opinion!

Have fun!

PS Have you seen those toys with the suction cups that are made to go on the window of a car? They are really cool for the airplane too.

Disneymom3,

I didn't know that children in car seats needed to be at the window. DD is 5 and her booster is not FAA certified so no she won't be in a carseat, Hey one less item to trek across the airport. Not to worry my mom who is picking us up has a booster in her car for us.

I like the suction cup toys idea, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks.

Gail,

"It was truly just a suggestion, one that I normally don't make."

Don't sweat it, a lot of people, including family members have suggested the same.

My father thinks I'm CRAZY for paying for the seat. He just doesn't get it.

There is a way to preboard without being disabled etc.... SW does sometimes give Preboard authorizations to travelers who get the FULL search. I have a co-worker who flies all the time on the buddy pass (His wife flies so much that if he flies with her he is free!) Since the buddy pass is a one way ticket and he is usually not checking bags he is selected for "search" about 75% of the time. SW lets him preboard. (His wife cannot preboard with him!)

have not seen any pre board searches in a long time...

but when they did have them, we did notice some people in the C grouping ( or was that number grouping not sure ) who volunteered to be searched so they could get on ahead of others

any airports we fly out of do not have any TSA agents at the gate doing searches

My DH was pre-board searched in early November (and he was flying SWA). He was traveling alone, no checked bags and since he is deaf, sometimes service workers think he is not answering them or something until they see him flash out his card (says "I am profoundly deaf, please look at me when you are talking,etc...)
He was allowed to pre-board, but said he only did so because the flight had only 1 other pre-boarder and was only 1/2 full.

Last October, he went up to the gate counter and was given a "blue sleeve". He asked what it was for (first time we flew SWA) and they told him because of his hearing impairment he should pre-board in order to have an up-front seat to read the FA lips during the procedures annoucements. Too funny! He politely thanked them and refused :)
