GAD verification

I sent my blankets to Project Linus. They e-mailed me saying they received them. That was Friday. She said she would verify me as soon as possible.
When I sign in to Manage My Account, it still says "The volunteer is signed up for an activity".
Did I do something wrong?
 
I would wait a couple days before getting worried about the verification. If they received your blankets on Friday then I would realistically give them 5 days or so. It is possible the person who has to do that step was not in that weekend and will be back today. And then who knows how many they have to do...

I would say if you don't see a change by Wednesday to send an email... but for now give them a little time.
 
Did you put in a date for your volunteer service and has it passed already? I did PL also with a NH chapter and even though I was able to mail my blankets I still had to put in a "volunteer date" in the system. The PL coordinator said she could not verify my service in the system until after that date had passed, even if I sent in the blankets much earlier.
 

I am very anxious now that GAD is closed. My status showes "The volunteer is signed up for an activity".
Does that mean I am definately booked for the activity, (making blankets)? My blankets are complete. I have until 3/27 to turn them in. I am turning them in tomorrow. I just want to make sure that the next step would show status pending.
This whole thing is making me nervous. I spent a lot of mony and time, 7 of us, making these blankets. :confused3
 
For me it took a few days from when they received my blankets to when the email was sent to me saying that everything had been verified and I could now print my vouchers. It is hard to wait but I would give it a few days.

This was the case with me too. I have a volunteer date of today, March 12, to turn in our candy filled eggs to the Salvation Army. I turned them in early as I heard that they were reaching the million mark for volunteers. The organizer said that she still could not verify me until the day after my service date that I put in. Thankfully after reading lots of threads, I still will get my vouchers as they have me in the system already. Hopefully I will get verified Monday, and then get my vouchers soon afterwards.

As long as you are signed up WITH a completion date, you should be fine. They have already counted those people in the final count and taken them into account. Remember, it can take up to 2 weeks for you to receive your vouchers... so don't freak out right away! ;)

You can't be verified until after the date you have signed up for. And it could take two weeks after that to receive the verification. So if sometime around 4/11 you still haven't been verified I would contact the event organizer and guest services for the GAD program. As far as the time and money that was spent on this event remember that it was you that chose to volunteer for a group that required a financial commitment on your part. There are plenty of opportunities that require nothing but time. As far as the time invested none of us should lose site of what this program is really about. There are 7 children in need in your area that will have a smile on their face and a warm blanket to call their own thanks to you regardless of whether you get the park tickets or not. The park tickets are a nice bonus and thank you from Disney but the real purpose of this is to have an impact in our communities and help make life better for somebody less fortunate than ourselves.

If you are turning the blankets in tomorrow, go into your account and change your volunteer date to tomorrow's date. That's what I did. It's very easy and will get the ball rolling for your vouchers a lot quicker.

Our coordinator actually sent us an email advising us to do this because they received the blankets.
 
Where and how do you change the date? I was signed up for the Project Linus in Normal IL. I mailed our blankets yesterday. No where on the manage my account do I see a date it just says this volunteer is signed up for an upcoming activity, I'm so confused :confused3 I see no where to change anything or to even find a date.

After you go into manage my account, to the right (mid-page) there is a "go to hands on america" (or something similar). Once you link there, it says "change or cancel" and you can go in and change the date there.

I did that and it tells me that it has to be mailed in before April 27,2010, I can't change the date. So we are all good, whew...thank you again :cheer2:

If you still want to change the date so you can get your vouchers sooner, try this: after you click on the change/edit option and see what you are signed up for (it looks like you've already made it this far), click on the the organization you are volunteering for (Project Linus) and another page will pop up where you can change the date from April 27 to whatever date you'd rather have.
