GAC.. Where and other questions?

I have some mobility issues and think it is best if I explore the option of getting a GAC for alternate wait areas/access and also am prone to hives when in the sun too long/overheated.

With that said can you tell me where the CM's/office is in MK to inquire and explain about my disability etc, I will bring a Dr's note although I know it is not required.

Also, is the line/wait time for this generally long? We have an 8:15 breakfest our 1st Day there in CP and am wondering what time I should get there and still be on time for our ADR.

Anything else I should know about this?

Go to City hall when you first enter the park to the guest services window and just explain what accommodations you require, no need to go into detail about your condition. Lines are not terribly long normally.

This is correct, but here are some more detailed instructions:

1) When you are entering the actual park (going through the turnstiles), there are two entrances (tunnels through the train station). Go to the entrance on your left.

2) Keep to your left. The first building you see will be a small brown one with a sign that says "Package Pick-up".

3) The next building is a large white one. This is City Hall. Go up the steps/ramp to the front entrance and wait in line for the first available Guest Relations CM. S/he will help you out with a GAC.

If you have mobility issues, have you considered renting a wheelchair or ECV for the trip? Alternative waiting areas, though helpful, can only do so much. You will still have a lot of walking around the parks between attractions. Most people clock up between 5 and 10 miles a day at Disney. Just throwing that idea in there for you to consider.

also, there are not alternative waiting areas for all rides... in fact the most popular (which have the longest lines) seem not to have them (for instance, i do not think space mountain has one)...

you may want to look into renting an ECV

My mother has mobility and heat issues and we have never tried to get a GAC. She avoids going in July and August. She rents and ecv and most of the lines are able to accomodate them in the regular line. She has never had a problem, even in Sept when it was in the 90's plus humid. We drinks plenty of water, uses cool mister fan, good sun block. Also, when we are on a ride that she won't ride, like space mountain, she goes to TTA ( formerly the people mover) and rides it around and around until we are done. She also goes to the shows, like Tiki birds, Hall of Presidents and so on to keep out of the sun.

If you go to the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of the thread list on this board, you will find a whole section about GACs.

I agree with the others that an ECV possibly be a lot more helpful to you than a GAC. Most of the waiting areas/queues are shaded, covered with roofs, or inside buildings. So, much of your time in the sun won't be in lines, it will be getting from place to place. A GAC would help with the lines that are in the sun, but would not help at all with the time you are not in line.
You can actually rent ECVs with sunshades, which some posters have written helped them a lot with avoiding the sun. There is information in the disABILITIES FAQs thread about places to rent ECVs.
