FYI: Westjet cancelled the direct flight from YYc to MCO on Dec 27,08

Our direct flight to MCO on Dec 27, 08 got cancel and they managed to put us on another direct flight leaving 2 days earlier. Can't complaint too much.

wow! I'm surprised they cancelled but at least you get a flight and earlier too! lucky you!

A lot of that is happening so airlines can minimize costs. Ours was cancelled also but we were able to find an alternate flight.

We booked our flights through a travel agent and she called us and re-booked us on a new flight What really surprised me OP is that WJ would run a direct flight on Christmas Day instead of the 27th.

You are lucky (to be able to take the extra couple of days).What about the poor folk who can't get the extra days (or can't afford the accomodation costs)

I posted earlier about AirCanada also cancelling our flight late in the day but getting us on on earlier that day..all airlines are doing it...consolodating flights to the max and overbooking as well..I was cranky about having to leave 5 hours earlier, guess I should stay quiet...

How did you find out they cancelled your flight? Did they contact you?

Westjet send me an email and informed me to contact them few days ago. I bought 2 of our ticket through the Westjet website and the other 2 tickets are from Airmiles. When I called westjet, the agent was able to changed all 4tickets to the 25th.

I was suprised too. Their usual direct flight leave at 12:25 pm. But our departure time on the 25th is at 10:20.

Actually, they put us on the non direct flight leaving Calgary at 7am connecting at Hamliton and arrive Orlando at Midnight. So we would have arrive in Orlando the same day. I asked the agent if any direct flight is available and she told me there is direct available on Dec 25th and 28th and we took the earlier flight.
