FYI! Ticket Price Increase Rumor

I have a question not sure if anyone is going to be able to answer it though...

When I was there at WDW in June. I took my tickets that I had just bought and we went to Guest Services at Downtown. They are giving some money for the tickets I just purchased toward my annual passes. The only thing is she gave me a ticket number since I did not want to have my passes active till my trip in Sept. So i could get my next summer trip out of the annual passes too. I just have a confrimation/resource id number for them to look up the information for when I return in Sept. to have the annual passes printed. Am I going to have to pay the new price??

I want to call tomorrow and inquire if so I will pay for them now..

Who should I call???????

We're leaving this Friday and I was planning on buying my daughter's AP (dvc discount) down there. I obviously want to avoid the price increase now. If I purchase throught the dvc member website there is a 'will call' option. Will they send me a voucher that I have to present at guest relations? If so, I will never get it in the mail by Friday. Or can I purchase on line now and just show them my I.D. at a guest relations window?

you will get an email you can present to any park or ticket office to get your annual passes. just bring your id. Enjoy your trip and GO BIRDS!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I just called MS today from work and purchased my AP with DVC discount over the phone. The CM placed the order by computer while I was on hold, accepted my credit card number, told me the current price, and said I'd receive a phone call with a Will Call reference number that I give at guest relations when I want to activate the ticket. Sure enough, when I got home from work today, there was a message on my answering machine giving me the reference number.

Since you're leaving so soon, that's how I'd do it. I'd call MS tomorrow (I think the Sat. hours are 1:00-5:00) and order the tickets over the phone so you're sure to lock in the current prices before the price hike. You'd get the reference number right away and be all set.

On the other hand, I don't know how the website option works for ticket ordering because I've never done it that way. Maybe they give you the reference number right away. :confused3 Someone else probably knows that. I just thought I'd chime in because I do know that ordering it over the phone works very quickly.

Good luck, and have a wonderful time! :)

Just bought 5 APs! It was an expensive evening but thank you so much for the heads up on the increase as it saved me about $125!!

Whew! I just purchased ours yesterday (4 adults, 2 kids) and had NO clue a price increase was coming up. Glad I decided to buy them when I did!

Can you renew an AP by calling MS or going to the Member's site? The AP site will not let me sign in. These expire on Sept 9th. I've been waiting for my renewal letter but it hasn't come yet. I just usually fax it in but it does not go to MS. With the price increase I want to take care of this Saturday.

If you haven't paid for them yet then you will pay the higher rate in Sept unless you get a prepaid A/P voucher now. I'd call member services to start with to see if they can help you.

I just renewed my annual pass today and bought my DH one, too. Sometimes we do an annual pass just for me so we can get the DDE card and use 10 day no expiration tickets for DH. It's usually borderline as to whether the discounted A/P is better or the 10 day no expiration tickets. This next year we will probably go to Disney 3 times so that puts us over the edge and makes an AP worth it for both of us.

I also stocked up on 10 day tickets though... 2 more plain no expiration and 1 more park hopper no expiration. Ouch. But I figure we'll own DVC for many years to come and the tickets won't get cheaper in the future. I like having an inventory of "cheaper" tickets for future use.

I renewed through a link from the member's site to Disney's site. Because I was coming from the member's site it already knew I got the DVC discount without me having to give my DVC membership number.

Two more AP's purchased just now.:cool1:

It's the first time we'll have AP's for WDW, so it's kind of exciting. Well, I was a cast member about 10 years ago and had unlimited admission then too, but that was a different time in my life.

At least my kids are still under 3 so no admission $ for them yet. Next year though it's going to get more expensive as DS crosses the age cutoff line.

I wonder how much ticket sales spike in the 1-2 days between announcing the price increase and the when it takes effect. I guess there's not really that many people in the general population who would be "in the loop" to beat the cutoff date, but there still must be a pretty substantial jump in sales for the 1-2 days from those reading these boards and maybe locals in Orlando who hear about it in the news.

I'm hearing a 6% increase, so about $20 a ticket.

My daughter bought her 2 APs yesterday from the MS website. I logged on using my account, but she purchased with her credit card number. She is a member, but never set up her own account. The MS store let her first appy her rewards points, then after it was submitted, she was then allowed to enter her credit card number and got the will call certificate. She changed the billing information from me to her. I thought no way would it let her use my account, but it did. She has her own blue members card, so only needs that to pick up her cards.

I will be renewing today, but if you are a current DVC AP holder, you only need to log into the regular AP website and enter your ID. The website knows the AP is a DVC member and will offer you the DVC price. My card expire October 22, but it let me do the renew.

Just go to DVCmember.com and look for the links. You can do it online. It took me a while to find it.

You probably can get into the passholder page with the number they gave you and buy the ap's on line. The numbers will get you into the "DVC discount" page, and you'll be set. We use the will call option, so we don't inadvertently leave the passes at home.

On the member web site I find links to buy a new AP, but not renewal. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thank you so much for the heads up! I just purchased my AP via the DVC member's site and printed out a will call certificate. I was very happy it let me use my Disney Rewards and my Disney credit card. DD is laughing...she says I need to get a life!

This is an interesting idea. I am going to look into this today. Our APs will get us thru next Oct. but then we may not need APs for all of us and we can use no exp forever. I need to go to WDW 3-4 times per year for work but as the kids get older they may need to miss a trip or 2 b/c of school acitivities. Thanks for this idea!

You have to renew on the AP website. Seems the MS site only lets you buy new. Go to the disney.com/passholder site and once you put your id in the ticket you are currently holding will know it's a dvc ap and will offer your the dvc renewal price. There is an entire section on the passholder site regarding renewals. Good luck.

You're welcome.

We'll probably try to keep one of us on the AP each year so that we can still buy the DDE card (we save LOTS with that). But we're usually at about break even for number of days at Disney between making the AP a better deal or the 10 day park hopper tickets. The last few years I've gotten the AP and DH uses the 10 day tickets that don't expire. We actually also have 10 day regular tickets for the days we know we won't want to park hop but the difference in cost per day is only about $5 so it isn't a huge savings to skip the park hopper option.

My AP expires 10/11 so I was able to renew last night. Total came to 326.76 with tax and shipping.
