FYI! Ticket Price Increase Rumor

On new APs they start when you activate them.

Rumor update.

On the Theme Park boards some folks are reporting that the Disney Store is saying next Wed for the price increase. (You can't buy an AP there unless it's a special order so no reports on that) Prices are not being disclosed....... but the clerks say new price lists have been received.

(NOTE: IF this turns out to be false I will not be refunding anyone LOL! I just pass on the gossip, I don't make it up!)

I wanted to use my ticket that I have to buy to get the free dinning.

well I guess that gets saved until next time.

Mousesavers is now reporting a "very strong rumor."

I need APs for 5 people for October trip.

Would it be safer to buy them this weekend? I was not ready to spend $1700 until closer to October but will do so to avoid the increase.

Help and thanks!!!

I hope you don't mind me reaffirming your answer. We are DVC members and currently do not have APs. We are going in November and plan to buy APs. However, if the prices go up significantly, I'm wondering if we should buy them now. There are five us. If I want the DVC discount on the AP, can I order them through MS now? Will the expiration date be from when we ordered them or from November when we first use them?

Thanks so much for clarifying this for me.:)

If you buy AP vouchers they will not be "active" until your first use. So if you buy them now and don't activate them until Oct or Nov they are good for a year from your date of first use. (ie they will be good until Oct/Nov 08)

Now.... the "should you buy now" question is unknown. As of right now no one has "leaked" a price list so no one knows who much or if the AP will increase. (My bet is on an increase, but I don't really have a clue! If I had a crystal ball I would pick the lottery and not worry about it ever again! LOL!)

Does not surprise me since Disney just declared record profits for the
Quarter and significant increases from its WDW park.

Here is what was quoted:

Disney on Wednesday reported sales of $9.05 billion for the second quarter, which ended June 30, up 7 percent from $8.47 billion in the second quarter of 2006.

Quarterly profit from continuing operations rose 9 percent to $1.19 billion.

Parks and resorts revenues for the quarter increased 6 percent to $2.90 billion and operating income increased 13 percent to $621 million.

Higher operating income reflected increases at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.

Higher operating income at Walt Disney World came from increased guest spending and higher attendance, partially offset by higher operating costs. Guest spending increases resulted from higher average room rates and merchandise sales. Guest attendance increased by 4%.

"We're pleased the theme parks are at the 20 percent margin number, and we prefer not to stop there," Iger said.

Tom Staggs, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer, said occupancy at Walt Disney World area hotels was 93 percent and spending at the parks was up 5 percent.

Thanks Iger.

If they HAVE to go up, please let them go up after Sunday! We get there on Sunday and I have to get my dd a new AP. Her's expired in May and since she needed to cover this trip as well as one next July, we decided to wait and get a new one when we got to WDW, rather than renew in May. Fingers crossed.

LOL!

No worries. We were going to buy soon anyway, precisely to avoid the annual "price hike". I just wasn't sure when they'd announce it.

I, for one, appreciate the heads up.

:)

Do they start counting from the day that you exchange the voucher or from the day that you first use the AP? If we were to check-in on a Monday and exchange our vouchers and then, for some reason, not go into a park until Wednesday, would the time start ticking on Monday or Wednesday? We will want this AP to cover our trip next October as well and a couple of days of usage can make a big difference. TIA!!

I think its the day yiou exchange the voucher that the AP goes "ACTIVE"

Renewals are from the date your last pass expires. (That I know for SURE!) So my pass expires on 8/9. If I renew the new one starts on 8/10 no matter if I am at Disney or here in ATL. IMHO if you have a month or so between expriration and next trip it's probably just as good to buy a new one then renew..... (but that's just my view, no "analysis" performed)

Thanks for the detailed description. I feel like I understand the details now. I'd like that crystal ball, too.:goodvibes

Just got off the phone with member services and ordered my ap vouchers, for our august trip. would hate to have a price increase and buy aps in the park in three weeks and pay a different price. The cm said that they start from the day you enter the park, not exchange the vouchers. we are going to exchange our vouchers in down town disney and go in the parks the next day and that is when they start. I know this to be true also because that is what we did two years ago. good luck to everyone. the price was 355 for adult and 313 for children with tax. we paid three dollars to have them mailed to us.

Our AP’s expires in October 2006 so seeing that we didn’t intend on visiting WDW until February of ’07, we purchased new passes just prior to the increase last year. We went in February but never validated the voucher since we never entered the park. We intend on going in November at which time those vouchers will be exchanged.

You can buy now either by calling MS or purchasing from the DVC Member website and select the Will Call option to get the tickets. When you get to Disney just go to the Will Call Window and get your ticket and they will activate it then.
