FYI: "motionless" option at Star Tours

For those of you with little ones under 40", I wanted to let everyone know that there is an option for them at Star Tours. The park was very slow last Tuesday morning. My cousin and I were walking towards the entrance into Star Tours discussing who would stay back with the 2 year olds, and the CM offered a "flight check" option for them. We sent the bigger kids with my husband on the regular version, while they opened our own "shuttle" for the 4 of us....same movie, just without the seat motion.

I didn't know they would offer this to little ones, but I'm guessing because it was so slow, they didn't mind using one of the theaters for just the 4 of us. It was a bit of pixie dust thrown our way! Our almost 3 year olds were really excited to get to ride a big-kid ride!

Are you sure you're talking about Star Tours and not Mission: Space? I have not heard of this option before for Star Tours; if it's new, it sounds like a good option for Star Wars fans who can't take the motion simulation of the Starspeeder 3000.

We have been using the "system check" at Star Tours since 1990. My ds was in a wheelchair and the cm's were more than happy to accommodate us.

They don't often offer this at least they didn't, and I would think the park would have to be extra slow because a couple years ago when my little guy was too short and cried the whole time we were waiting -not screaming, just tears running down his cheeks- they never offered! and he even talked with the CM about the characters in star wars. So I would never promise it.

It is Star Tours.
They do sometimes do it as an accomidation for people with disabilities who could not ride otherwise. People have written that it may not be always available (depending on how busy it is) and that they may be given a time to come back later when it is less busy.
For someone without a disability, I would consider it is an infrequent bit of pixie dust. I would not count on having it available; if it happened to you, you were the recipient of a very nice bit of pixie dust.

we also did this last week. it was me ,my mom, my 2 year old, and 2 other women and 2 little ones.

Honestly, I think if more people knew about it it would be pretty popular, what with all the little ones, pregnant ladies and older folks who don't want to bounce around so much. I have extreme motion sickness and would love the opportunity to do this (I have at other parks like Dollywood.) Guess I will ask next time!

I asked about it once, having heard of it in a tour book I think, and was told that if I came back at the end of the day, like once Fantasmic started, they would be able to do it for me. We never made it back to try it, but the option did exist.

IS this really true?????

From what I've heard, they are doing it now as part of YOAMD.

Whe I went to DL in 2003 there was a seperate line for this at Star Tours and It was running all day. I didn't pay any attention when at WDW lat year so I didn't realize this was not a common thing.

We do this at Star Tours when its very slow. Come early in the morning or late at night. Yes, the proper term is 'flight check'. Ask the CM who is working the greeter position and he can call up to tower to see how busy they are. Generally, wait time needs to be down to 5 or 0 minutes. The reason for this is because after flying a flight check mission, we have to fly the simulator empty for the next run to get it back to normal, and if there are lines already we need all 6 simulators going.
