“Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” Playground and Several Other Studios Attractions Also Close 4/2/16

It has been a fairly rough day for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but besides the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show and the Earful Tower, several other park mainstays will be leaving us on April 2nd as well.

Among the offerings closing will be the “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” Movie Set Adventure, the Monsters Inc. meet and greet, Studio Catering Co., Youze Guys Moychondise, the Streets of America, the Prop Shop, and Watto’s Grotto (formerly AFI Showcase).

Disney today claimed the entire expansion, including both the Star Wars-themed land and Toy Story Land and whatever else the park may add will encompass 25 total acres. In order to make room for all of that, it is now official that everything north of the Great Movie Ride between Muppetvision 3-D (which Disney has now confirmed to be safe) and Toy Story Midway Mania will be bulldozed.

Confirmed by who?

Sorry, should have shortened quote to show what I had put in bold, keep forgetting this format doesn't show all.

WHO confirmed Muppetvision is safe?

they haven't, Disney has said that it should remain open for now, with no closing date...that's Disney talk for it should be open for the next 6 months.

Thank you.

I think that is my point. Some on here keep posting information as fact and "confirmed" and in Muppetvision's case - it is safe and part of the long term plan for a mini Muppets land. WE LOVE LOVE LOVE Muppets and I would be happy but...... I think most the news in the last week added to today's closures don't make it look good.

After today's announcements, DS talked to his friend who is MK CM (management) and said "they announced the closure of (and he listed) and I'm afraid now Muppets won't stay in the park." The response he got "Did you really think it was going to stay?"

I agree they should just announce the list of things closing, be it in the next couple of months or a year or two. You know they know, they have surveyed the area and they know how much land the need, so why not just say it and people can have enough time to plan to come experience it for the last time if they wish

WOW.
Sad to see the playground go - my kids LOVED that thing. So is this now the complete list: LMA plus what they list here, or is anything else supposed to close? What is the Earful Tower?

No they did not confirm that Muppets was staying. They only confirmed it was not closing in April.

"Hi Matt, the Muppet*Vision 3D show is not closing in April. And no other additional closures are planned. Thanks."

I truly believe it's safe. If it goes you can say I was wrong and everything else but I don't see muppets going anywhere. Nothing I have seen says it is.
