FYI - AirTran is now booking Dec. 18 and beyond

If you are looking for holiday travel on AirTran, they are now booking for Dec. 18 and beyond. (Don't ask me how far, because I didn't check!) Their web site doesn't have all of the fares loaded for the city pair I want, but I can see the fares at Kayak.

Yeah, they were high and going fast from our airport. High enough that I am willing to still wait at this point. Airfare for 6 of us might justify a drive if it stays this high.

Did the web site show only a few price categories for the dates you want to travel? Check www.kayak.com and see if AirTran's flights cost less. The dates I was looking at also showed only the most expensive coach fare plus business class, but Kayak (and Orbitz/Cheap Tickets) showed the least expensive fares as well.

Their fares are really high and it is making me really nervous. They only seem to have the highest two price catagories listed for most days. Is this just a case of they have not loaded all the fares yet?? I have been watching it since Saturday evening and it is not changing.

As I mentioned above, check fares at Kayak (www.kayak.com). It appears AirTran just doesn't have all the fares loaded, because I can see much lower fares for the dates I was checking (Dec. 18 or 19) there.

I am looking for my flight home on January 2. I know that will be a busy travel day. The lowest on Kayak is $251 one way from MCO to Dayton. The lowest on the Airtran website is $338. I am hoping that they do not have all the fares loaded yet, but it just makes me nervous that they will never come down. Does anyone know how many days it typically takes for them to get all the fares loaded?

I checked Dec. 18 just now, and all the fares are finally loadedl They're still working on Jan 2 from Orlando to my airport.

I read here that AirTran will give you a credit if the airfare goes down, and that's why I already bought my airfare for Dec. 5 and 17. I expected it to be even higher that close to Christmas.
