FYI about May 2

Not to be too snippy, but how can they do this? A lot of people in certain jobs have to request vacation time up to 6 months in advance. So if you're booked for the May 2 cruise, you're just out of luck and hope you can make it next year?

I would have thought Disney would have more consideration for their other guests and make a group wishing to have full run of the ship book at least 2 years out or so. It's disappointing to hear another story about how the one with the biggest bucks gets the special treatment while Mr. Joe Smith has to replan his entire vacation.

I think they have given enough notice that people can adjust vacation request... that is just my opinion. The are protecting the qouted rate of the trip for any other date, so guests are not being charged any different for moving their trip and they are currently around 4 months prior to sailing, so if there was someone that has to give longer notice can still move the vacation out to June or July and sail on Peak sailing for value rates... I understand the emotions in your post, but I guess I just don't feel the same way. I would probably be a little crushed if I was on that sailing and had to move it, but I also understand that when a group wants to charter the entire ship, you would make the arrangements... It may be "Disney" but it is also a company and especially right now, you make the adjustments that would be necessary to make the money

Can't believe it....does not sound very Disney to me...
Glad we're not traveling then! We have family coming from 3 states for our cruise, have planned for it for 2 years and would be very difficult to rearranged. Some have to give a years notice to even take vacation. So we would be very P/O'd  Oh well, IF this is true the least Dis can do is offer a free cruise to them for the lack of consideration and inconvenience :(

Well....May 2 is my birthday. Why was I not invited?:D
I would not be too happy if DCL called me to change my dates because some "group" booked it, but I doubt there are very many people to call as early May is about the worst time to take a week off from school (I know from experience...we stopped taking our annual birthday/vacation trip years ago).

I'm thinking about the people that have already bought their own airfare, about people who bought trip insurance from an independant company. Are you sure about that information? It just sounds a little too likely to induce lawsuits to me.

Every cruise line, not just Disney has the right to cancel regular booked passengers for a charter. I have read it in the fine print somewhere in one of the cruise lines brochures.

It is unfortunate, but just one of those things. But I agree with the poster who made the point about sailing peak times at value rates. Let's look at the bright side!!!!

I do understand how it feels to be bumped or delayed when you have your heart set on a date. We were booked for the Maiden Voyage of the Magic back in '98 and the sailing date was changed 3 times!!! We had to arrange all our vacations several times but it all worked out in the end.

Isn't April 28 the cruise that Aaron Carter is scheduled to be on,is that sailing affected? We are on the 7 day Magic April 27,sure hope they don't put Aaron on our cruise

52plan.....I think they mean if your land portion of the trip starts on the 28th....the cruise is actually on May 2nd

This is not the first time that The Ship has been chartered, last year they had 2 sailings chartered... I think that I would be upset if I was booked on that date, I honestly don't know what I would do (I tend to have a touch of a temeper) but like Mmouse stated "Every cruise line, not just Disney has the right to cancel regular booked passengers for a charter...it is in the fine print somewhere in one of the cruise lines brochures." So an actual lawsuit really would not be an option.
